dude, you could have an 05' mustang GT with a few thousand miles on it for under 19K.  I mean thats all your choice and all, and good that you got what you wanted, but there are SO many better choices for that amount of money, you sir, had your wallet raped.  Don't get the sub and all that other stuff, it turns out to be a waste of money, the whole sound system will cost you several hundred dollars, when a nice car should come with a very decent system.  Still, if this is to you heart's content, nice find.

edit- never buy from the dealer, you get price raped every time

My grandparents have a 2005 or 2006 RL. Very nice car, but I'm kinda surprised they went for it because the whole car is like a computer.

Anyway, 19k for that? Good lookin car, but why 19k on a vehicle with that many miles and years on it?

Geeze, you could have gotten a NEW car for that price. Arnt VW Rabbits like 14K? Same with the civic coupe and sedan

Let's see, a grown style looking car, a lower insurance rate, probably very comfortable and a dream to drive.

Better cars under 19k? Rabbit? A truck? a mustang? Ok
What's the next suggestion, a civic or used honda?
He's probably going for vehicle that has some practicality and doesn't scream highschooler or punk kid.

Slap some tint on those windows, some non-gaudy rims and it'll be a nice looking car. At least in my opinion.

You coulda got an '03 Escalade for that much.

Edit: Put a real dark tint on that also some new wheels. Go with some 18's.

Granted he may have gotten ripped off, comparing it to an '06 Gallant (yes the apostrophe goes in front) is terrible. RLs are super nice cars, much nicer than a Gallant.

Looks nice. I wouldn't be dropping 19 grand on a car, but if you did and you like it, that's fine with me.

I would have spent another grand and gotten a Volvo S60. I drive my sisters, and it's nice. Not as much space as the V70 I normally drive, but much more fun to drive.

Acuras are nice cars, and 19k for a 2002 RL with less than 50k miles is about right.  If anything, he got a bit of a deal.  Kelley's Blue Book puts dealer price at about 21k.

Whether you like the car is a matter of taste, but he certainly didn't get ripped off.

RL's are a long way from old people cars...drop some rims and a tint job, and you're pimped. Escalades are old people cars, until you give them a makoever.

And he didn't get ripped if this is the car he wants...he saved a paid cash for a car that's far nicer than my first (and arguably my current) vehicle. Congrats on going with an intelligent, mature vehicle that will last forever, make you look far richer than you really are, and possibly help you get laid with a higher class of girls.

i will never understand why people put rims and tint on a car.  It adds nothing to the performance and putting bigger rims on even takes away from the car's turning ability.  The car sounds nice, I'll give you that, but if you were going to pay 19k on a car, buying private would have been better as well as going for a european car.  Whoever said volvo was right on, i drive an s60 with premium sound.  I had intended to put a new sound system in until I actually cranked it up, an 8 speaker system, it doesn't need anything else.

Acceleration is affected. Less rubber = less room for the rubber to spin = faster response = snappier accel

and it should make handling better too under those same acceleration dynamics that choop used, as long as your tires still end up being the same diameter and such.

nice buy bro.  some ppl dont realize honda makes acura....so that means this car will probly last you forever. i bought an 02 civic with 11000 miles on it for 9000.  i got a good deal on mine tho cuz they were old ppl lol.  but i dont have the heated seats, wood trim, bose sound system, and w/e other goodies you probably have.  i honestly think u got a good deal being how the car brand new is worth about 40000. now u wont have to worry about a new car for a long ass time, as long as you dont drive like me and put like 1000 miles every 2 weeks lol.  good luck with her.

Have you ever drove on of those Celica's? You wouldnt believe how nice they are.

Also Escalades most definetly aren't old people cars. Coming with a 300-HP V8 is pretty impressive. They are even more comfertable than my Avalanche Z66 (03) had. Not to mention how nice them wheels that come on it are.

Also my Avalanche, when we bought it, 03' 30,000 miles. Leather, BOSE, onstar, Heated Leather. V8. Paid $19,500. Also it was mint condition.

Pictures of you like.

Congrats on the new car.  $19,000 is alot of cash but if your happy no worries.

I bought a 04 Jetta TDI loaded with 70,000kms (43,495miles)for 19,900CDN ($17,048US) has remaining 80,00km warrenty and an additional 2 year 40,000km warrenty.  MY boss has a car nearly identical to yours (dont know what he paid about the same as mine though).  Comparing em side by side their very different cars but nither of us would want to trade.  His cars probly a bit more comfy and a tad quicker were as mines ALOT cheaper to drive (1000kms to a tank of $40CDN) and both are so far trouble free.

Maybe DsXz just has old-man taste - I am an old man, and I would certainly MUCH rather have the 2002 RL than any of the other cars proposed as an alternative in this thread.  Not even close.

Cadillac, in my book at least, doesn't make old people cars anymore.

They only "Old People" model they have left is the DTS, which is a large luxury old persons car.

The CTS is a very sharp looking midsize, and the STS is a beautiful luxury/sports car, very large and comfortable on the inside without feeling like you are cruising a barge down river.

Not to mention the XLR, which is sex on four wheels. God those things are sexy...

Point being...I really like Cadillacs.

I agree. I have never really been a super sports car person.

Although not quite what you are saying, I love luxury cars. Maybe something is wrong for me, because it is unnatural for my age, but I would take a Cadillac or a Lincoln over any sports car of equal price.

Tae Kwon Do, I couldnt agree with you more on the luxery vehicles and how nice Cadilac is.

Just occured to me that you could get an '04 BMW 325Ci for around $18,000.
Or an '00 745iL for around. $16,000. I would gladly take either over that Acura. Not to cut down your Acura but I love BMW.

Just look at the CTS, it's purely straight, sharp edges and lines. If they only had a ruler, it'd make for a design with really sharp cuts and lines to the car. Exactly what the CTS has, none of that swoopy, smoothed crud.

bmw's are nice to, i still think he did good though.  try comparing insurance rates from his car to a bmw or an escalade. or even a civic.  i know when i got my civic the insurance went up a bit just because of the car.  and new jersey insurance isnt cheap.  so i know this had to have been a factor in his decision.

Nice car man. There will always be people that think your an idiot for spending that on an Acura. But Acura's are nice reliable and I'm sure your insurance is going to be pretty low because you are in an all around safe car.

Just occured to me that you could get an '04 BMW 325Ci for around $18,000.
Or an '00 745iL for around. $16,000. I would gladly take either over that Acura. Not to cut down your Acura but I love BMW.

Within the entire United States, there are only four 04+ BMW 325ci's for 18k/less, and 1 was in an accident (On Autotrader). The other 3 are out of warranty.
And the 745's are beautiful, great cars but their reliability is complete craaaaaaap. I would never ever buy one, unless I had bundles of money for repairs. I love BMW's, but their reliability is starting to bother me. Our m3 was bought back by BMW under California's Lemon Law, and our 645 had its engine replaced at 30,000 miles. Hopefully, our Z4 fairs better.

And although I personally wouldn't choose the Acura, it is a nice car and I see why you chose it. BTW, 04/05 Rx8s with leather, sunroofs, and Bose sound systems are available for around 20k. But that's a sports car, quite different than the Acura.

VW's I feel the same way, oh they're reliable, until something goes wrong. Then EVERYTHING starts going wrong.
