Just another random gun question,  what is up with those new,  ugly,  weird,  plastic Tippmanns??   Their  being sold at Wal-Marts everywhere.

Are they any good?  They look VERY fragile...    And I wouldn't be caught dead with one.

Triumphs? Boy you missed something. Actually, Rambino got one. He says they perform just as good as a 98, and are actually really reliable/tough. Aside from looking like a power drill, they're decent guns.

I fully agree with this, I have held one my self and they are really sturdy and you know it has to be reliable because it has the same internals as a 98.

I'm watching one right now, if it doesn't shoot through the roof in the next few days, I may pick it up. Wanna see how they do. I'd love to get out on a field with one and just tear up some kids with Ions.

hahaha  wow,  I knew it would shoot nice cause it's a tippmann  but it DOES look like if you dropped it you'd crack it or something.

Anyways,  that's cool.  Thanks

Tippmann X7

Straight out of the box the X7 looks pretty good.  Although noticeably lighter than the A5 it shares the same robust manufacturing quality as it’s predecessor and the finish is extremely durable.  The top and bottom rails are part of the marker and cannot be removed but are ideal for bolting on accessories such as flashlights, laser sights or bipods.  The rear and fore sights are quite funky and can be easily removed if desired.

The mag when removed opens up to allow storage of tools which is a nice touch but it feels a little flimsy however after filling it with foam the feel was greatly improved.  The X7 comes with a stock A5 barrel, which performs perfectly adequately and is compatible with all A5 barrels but not A5 stocks.  All in all you shouldn’t need to invest much to make it “scenario ready”.  The hopper will hold around 190 balls with out over loading however the X7 will also accept the standard A5 hopper if you feel you need the extra capacity.

I’ve been using A5s for a number of years but the X7 felt better and fired better than a standard A5.  The trigger set up is very nice and the best way to describe the feel is that it’s like having the response with out having the response if you see what I mean.

I’ve used A5s throughout my time in paintball and am a huge fan however I have to say that in my view, pound for pound the X7 is even better. I think when fully kitted up it will out strip an upgraded A5 and with all those kits it will look and feel better as the X7 has clearly been designed with modification in mind.

Stripping the X7 is as simple as stripping an A5, inside the layout is virtually identical with only a few minor changes to the internals.

Any player familiar with the A5 will have no problems with the X7, and those new to paintball will find the X7 an excellent choice since it is well made, tough and easy to maintain and upgrade.  I must say I didn’t think it was possible to improve on the A5 but I feel Tippmann have managed it.

Bought a Triumph because I didn't need anything else from Dick's.

It is just as sturdy, and nominally lighter than the 98c.

They actually come in black now and aren't that ugly at all. I may take a dremel to it and see what I can create..

Those Triumph guns are for beginner players who can't afford a 98c. They're just as reliable but cost less for newbie players.

Tippmanns are cool like Dye's are expensive, and JT Protiums are great markers too!

Hey I seem to remember this same conversation going on when everyone on here owned pro-lites and carbine's (later merged into the pro-carbine) and the model 98 came out. Scarey to think that was almost 10 years ago. Back then everyone was worried about a two-peice gun being less of a quality gun than a machined one. well they proved those people wrong then (as most of you probably own them now) and I'm sure this gun will prove to be equaly successful at offering Tippmann quality at the lowest price possible.

i'm with ricksOslick on this one, they do look like a gas pump...

if its a god gun, mabye people will buy it instead of those brass eagles and spyders... (i saw a kid the other day who was mouthing off how his brass eagle pump was better than any other gun on earth... i'm going to lol when he repeatedly gets owned...)

and it's a power drill

I actually own two of the eXTs (one for me and one for my daughter).  They work pretty well.  I love the three shot burst.  I've had problems with the card in one of them and it quit releasing the bolt.  I've sent it back for repair.  The only other problem I've had is on cool days or when firing full auto (or a bunch of three shot bursts in rapid succession), the bolt doesn't always fully cock.  I assume this is because I'm using CO2 and I'm loosing some pressure because it's not evaporating enough.  I could be wrong though as I am pretty new to paintball.
