You probably don't want something used, but for $100, you aren't going to get anything new that is atleast decent. A good starting gun would be a 98 Custom Pro with ACT. You could find it for under $100 on pbnation with a few upgrades proabably.

Doesn't burst? Airsoft of Battlemax? Either way, expect a MUCH better playing experience! :D

I would suggest saving up a few more bucks and getting a 98c like Hella Cool said.

Like all have said thus far, I also recommend a 98 Custom or Custom Pro.

there are some guns you can get for $100 new, but they are mostly sypders and brass eagles...

the other day i saw a starter kit with mask, hopper, co2, and a spyder VL for 130 bucks at canadian tire. its likely a POS tho

if your budget is only a hundred bucks you going to have difficultly finding a gun worth buying....

For under 100 dollars I would suggest a Spyder Sonix, and then buy a 20oz CO2, and gravity fed hopper, and a mask

Spyder Sonix: $65
Hopper: $5
CO2: $15
Mask: $20

ya, paintball isnt the cheapest sport...

even if you get the gun/mask/tank for 100 bucks some fields charge 40 bucks for paintballs, and you need to fill your air tank every few hoppers...

I'm not sure what the deal is, but I think Cousins of Long Island sells you a mask for an extra 10 dollars when you rent gear, or at least it was posted on their website for awhile...I assume its garbage, but was curious as to what mask it is? Anyone have any information on this?

well my budget isn't 100$  i just figure thats how much my dad is willing to spend on a gun.  i guess i could coax him a little bit though.  and i just want a gun for begginers.  it doesnt have to be anything special.  just something that will be able to shoot from a a kinda far distance.  and does anybody here go to hogans alley in connecticut.  because thata where i go.

they will all shoot about the same distance unless u have a flatline or apex barrel which are both around $100

the main difference is accuracy, reliability, and if it is electric or not, mostly you get whatever quality you pay for

Hey tonton,

Welcome to the forum.  Maybe take your dad into the shop to show him what the options are.  Then he can see what the range is for starter markers.  The general consensus for milsim guns under $150 is one of the Tippmann 98 models (but make sure to get a custom, so you can upgrade it and if you get one with ACT, you will get a lot less ball breaks).  The best selling non-milsim marker is Smart Parts' Ion because it's pretty reliable, looks cool and is (relatively) cheap: $199.

Personally, I spent a little extra ($220) for an A-5 as my first marker and got an Ion for my son, as he didn't want milsim.  We're both very happy with what we got.  I live about 15 minutes from Hogan's, but I've only shopped there, as I usually play at Strategy Plus in East Hampton because I prefer Woodsball.  One of these days, though...

thank's that advice will probably help me a whole lot.  and wat is woodsball?  is it just paintball in the woods?  cuz at hogan's, they have a woods place, it's sooooo good.  at least that's wat ive heard from my friends. they have everything in that field.  not to mention that they have three more.

nice gun by the way

Yup

I took a walk around their fields one day recently when it was raining (and no one was playing) and they looked small.  It's certainly the best speedball location around, but for woodsball, you want acres of land, which is what Strategy provides.  Maybe I'll catch you there or vice versa.

Pretty much anything under $100 dollars is crap, so I would try and get a 98c, they're reliable and almost indestructable for their price.(By the way, they're not REALLY indestructable, but pretty close.)

Tippmanns are cool like Dye's are expensive, and JT Protiums are great markers too!

ya in ct. and i cant catch you there because i dont no wat u look like and u dont no wat i look like...

and ive noticed that pretty much the only difference between your gun and the tippmann model is that yours has a different barell, magazine, and buttstock.

and if a get the 98c ACT.  how can i make it look like and AK-47?  i love those guns!

Assuming your of the age of 14 and up and you could get a job so you could give your Dad a break and show some responsibility. Then your Dad could buy his own 98C and you can have some great Father/Son bonding.

It has more "Features" than the 98 Custom , but most of them you can add later on as you get some extra cash . The 98Custom is an excellent marker for the money , and if you cant swing that , spyders are okay provided you give them proper maintenance which consists of basic cleaning and lubrication .

I have a pro, its realy not any different than a custom other than the fact it has a drop forward and double trigger...

The only reason you should get the pro is if you are going to want a double trigger and drop as upgrades for your 98...

if you can, go to a proshop and try holding/test firing both of them. and go with the one you like... its all about how you feel comfortable...

I got a spyder electronic.  it's the pilot.  it has a lot of setting including 3burst fire, 6burst fire, and full automatic.  with the electronic loader that i got for only 10 dollars opposed th 30, i can shoot up to 30 balls a second.

No, you cannot shoot 30bps, I'd take it over a 98c (shoots faster, for less money).

I don't know about that. My brother plays golf. His clubs cost way more than my paintball gear.  He pays 50 to 200 bucks to chase a ball around a field; I pay 40 to 60 bucks to shoot balls at people...lol

That is sooo fast, especially when my gun can only go 1020 balls per minute.

I am surprised no one has noticed his age is 10. Atleast he isn't acting immature.

Welcome to the forums. Hopefully you will stay to learn a few things that will make you sound and be smart in the real paintball world.

30 balls per minute = 1 ball every 2 seconds = bad....and the Pilot doesn't shoot 30 balls per minute...more like around 15 bps

A little suggestion, Do not shoot fast without an expensive hopper. All the paintballs will explode in your hopper/barrel/gun and it will be a huge mess.

Yes...

Spyders and Tippmanns both highly upgradable

Tippmanns a little more durable...but its a cheap begginer gun, it can't hurt for you to learn to fix a simple blow back. Spyders are not unreliable...Tippmanns just take more abuse. I would eventually plan to get a better gun if I continued playing if not...

Spyders are less expensive than tippmanns, so either way I pay less money.

Of course if you plan on keeping your Tippmann and using it as your main gun,...for idk...ever it is a better choice than a spyder, but for a young kid, a spyder w/ all the accessories for the cost of a Tippmann 98c, without a CO2 tank, or mask is a better move when working on a budget.

[as seen in my signature....I own a Tippmann,....none of the guns I own are Spyders].
