So, I'm having an issue with my PC I can't seem to get any help with. A couple of things out of the way-The only thing I use my PC for is the internet (mypsace, the forum, etc.), occasional YouTube, and gaming. No pr0nz, no flash games, no P2P downloaders like Limewire, nothing.

However, a friend of mine brought over a DivX rip of the Chappelle standup special  he downloaded (off of Limewire I'm sure), and we ripped it from a CD-R to my PC. We then went crazy downloading programs to watch the show through Media Center on my 360. Never worked, but now I'm stuck uninstalling countless background programs that run servers and MC extensions at startup.

I thought I had it all uninstalled, when voila-an error noise (that godawful violin noise windows assaults you with when you get an error), but no error. I had experience with this from my last PC I **edited** 'd with Limewire (the exact reason I buy CD's instead of d/l'ing then), and immediately I think spyware. So I say, okay, I'll update my McAfee (which sucks, but it came with the PC so whateverz), except I get a nice server not responding from their server. Way to keep a reliable virus def server guys.

The background noise is gone now, but I still get an error message when I start up windows saying some .dll file can't be found. Any suggestions? I don't have much experience with spyware since I keep my PC extremely clean, so I'm hoping that's not what this is. I'm thinking maybe one of the programs I uninstalled may be trying to start up, but...god I hate windows...

Anyway, /long post.

Start -> Run -> msconfig

Check out the startup tab on the right.  These are the programs that Windows runs at startup.  You may have something in there that was uninstalled, but the Run entry in the registry did not get removed.  Therefore, when you boot your PC, Windows is trying to execute the run command but cannot find the software (.dll) and gives you the error...

Also, what is the dll it is complaining about? You can google it and find out what it is and why there's a problem with it..
