There are a lot of people out there who have ‘unknowingly retired’ from paintball. You still have your equipment, probably buried in the closet somewhere, but you haven’t played for at least a year or more. If that’s you, why have you stopped playing?

1) General attitude of the average paintball player now-a-days.
2) Prices of paint, air, equipment, and maintenance.
3) Dislike of commercial fields, how they are run and set up, the types of people who play on them.
4) Shrinking amount of land available for outlaw play due to development and threat of criminal charges.

Busy doing other stuff, no-where to play when I'm at school (well, not convieniently) and too small of a scene when I'm home. Rediculously high costs when I'm home.

No fields within 50 miles and the group I played with rarely meets anymore.
Usually too broke.
Usually have other things to do.
....I do miss it though...
Edit: Guys, is it not possible that this could be someone from Tippmann doing research? Maybe you should try not to flame the Tippmann guy, if that turns out the case...

I'd say that's about par with my reasonings as well. But I would add 'lack of adequate time' to mine and place it high on the list.

No close fields, not many friends who play, can never find time to play with friends that do play.

Me and my friends are all too busy to play, and I'm tired of getting busted by the cops. Other than that-just no time to do it.
Did we really need two threads on this?

My friends dont realy play anymore, and I have less expendable income for things like that.
I played a lot when I was a teenage before I could drive, and for a little while before all my free time was consumed with partying. Most of the people I see at paintball fields are like I was, about the same age, but hanging out and slinging paint with a bunch of kids, or some fat old(to me that's still late twenties, who just got crapped out of the backside of college into the real world) sad dudes trying to relive their highschool pastimes just doesn't appeal to me anymore.
I'd rather buy a case of beer than a case of paint.

1. Nearest field is 60 miles away.
2. Money.
3. All my friends quit, and going out with them is half the fun.

I play when I can because money is an issue, and I also don't like all the younger kids who think the marker that fires 20 bps that there mommy bought them makes them good.

Its the same for me. Except for #3. There are still some decent fields around here. When I used to play a lot, we had an awesome field built, but we can't use that anymore.

The sport is too expensive.
Also, guns fire too fast nowadays and make physical/mental strengths obsolete.
The cheating is rampant.
Every field is in it for the money, thats it.
The industry is turning against itself by creating ramping guns; this takes away people from the sport. I find this comical.

Way overpriced for the amount of satisfaction I get out of it, since the nearest field (15 miles away) would cost me around $60 each time I would want to go, that is only if I only bought 500 rounds from them, and used my pump.
I also have 4 guns collecting dust, I used to go about 15 times during the year, and last year I cut that down to just 1 time.
All of my friends have the same exact reasoning too. I regret spending as much money as I did on all of my gear.
