Ok i play with a tippmann A-5 and i use co2. well at the place i go play i have to crono every game and my gun jumps from 250-350. Now i have been told to get air. im now getting the response for my gun and wondered if i should get air to or if my c02 will still work cuz i really dont want to spend 200 bucks for an air tank

CO2 should power your RT just fine (with proper considerations for "Shootdown") , but I would say you have other issues going on , typically CO2 shouldnt vary more than 20FPS at the maximum , maybe clean and lubricate your marker top to bottom ?

It may be a good idea to look into an expansion chamber of sorts as well as a good cleaning.

You get such dramatic jumps with velocity with CO2 because liquid CO2 is making it into the marker. Once a slug of liquid CO2 gets past the tank valve the process of opening the power valve, when the hammer drops, allows almost instantaneous vaporization of the liquid. That provides significantly more gas volume. Even though the pressures will be roughly the same there is more "push" with all that extra gas volume.

High rates of fire can cause the volume of CO2 in the tank to actually boil as bubbles of gas form through out the bottle. This "boil" will push liquid CO2 into the hose and power valve.

An expansion chamber can help, but hight rates of fire can still overwhelm the accessories and cause spikes in velocity. A remote gives you the best likelihood of nothing but gas making it into the marker. But, all these solutions are designed to fix the problems with CO2...problems that don't exist with HPA.
