My little brother just got a new 98c with the power pack from walmart.  I know that awhile ago, the spyders you could buy there where a bit down graded from the actuall specs from kingston, such as the automatic features and fps.  My question is, is this to be true on the tippmanns as well.  Are there any side effects on a walmart 98c vs. getting it from a authorized tippmann shop.   Thanks guys.

Brad

No. All tippmanns are going to be the same no matter where you buy it. I never heard of the spyder issue. The only thing I can think of are the diferent types of spyders. There are so many of them that some have different features than others.

kingman

the boxes that hold the guns you buy are made by the company not wallmart. you get the exact same box with the exact same specs on it anywhere you buy it.

why would you think that wallmart isin't an authorized tippmann shop?

Wal Mart is an authorized reseller they are just not authorized techs so there will be nothing different between the guns.

This is why I was asking, I wasnt for sure.  Spyders are different though.  For example you cannot buy a spyder full auto at Walmart regardless of its model, it has the ability, but you must buy a jumper for the grip to enable it. I just didnt know if Tippmann was the same way.  There are other things at wally world, such as routers from linksys that are the same way, I didnt know if tippmann was in that category. Thanks guys  Sorry about the kingston, always confuse kingston Ram with Kingman spyders name.

Yeah, at one point Walmart was in a tizzy with Kingman and VL/JT/BE over carrying "full-auto" markers. So they just bypassed the feature on some of the markers they sold there. It took all of something like a month before Walmart realized that they were being dumb when people started returning markers that didn't have all the features that they should have.

If you have a local paintball shop support them by shopping there and not walmart.

true, plus some threads give you membership if you buy a gun there. (my field gives free entrance and half price on paint for members)

Ditto.

Some pro-shops will offer to give you lifetime support with your marker if you buy it from them. i.e: If it ever messes up, they will work on it for you and fix it.

The keyword here is "some".

Your local pro-shop will appreciate your business much more than Wal-Mart will. Wal-Mart won't miss your $160.

I agree.  Always support your local shop and in the long run things will probably end up cheaper.
