Ok...I think the 98Custom because it is smaller, can be Blinged up anyway you want it, shoots faster with response/Electro. trigger, and you can do just about anything with it. And the A-5 is not that good because it has minimal chageable features and you cant do that much about it.

My vote goes to an SMG-60 lower receiver slapped onto an SMG 60 upper
reciever. But that's just me.

I would have to go with the SL-68 II, mainly because I play pump.

I'm going with the A-5...but as far as the ability to customize the A-5 and 98 custom, their the same, they both have a huge variety of customizable features (lp kits, response triggers, stocks, barrels, etc..) So pick your favorite style, not do to what has the most upgrades...pick comfort over upgrades everytime (unless the gun is just absolute crap)

Oh boy... another one of these.
Well my vote goes to the 98 Custom ACT. But I don't feel like explaining why.

I would generally answer Tippmann 98 Custom, but there are sure to be 10 of those posts, and 10 for the A-5.... so lets see if anyone else will back me up on this..
the SMG-60, and SMG-68.

If you really want to aim, get a stock ... and with most stocks, it's almost impossible to comfortably sight down the iron sights on a Tippmann marker... Still, the A5 is a good marker. Feild strippable, Tippmann ruggedness and customizability, plus the cyclone feed out of the box.

Wow, i love all these new threads.
Are you planning on getting an A5? You dont really aim in paintball. It gets back to the "no snipers in paintball" idea.

Yes you aim in Paintball ... but ... I agree, calling yourself a sniper in a sport where the max range is about 150ft ... 200 IF you're lobbing or have a flatline ... is more a commentary on your own knowledge and maturity level than it is about the position you play.
The fact remains is that due to the ballistics of a paintball (or lack therof) using a set of hard sights, be it iron-sights, a red dot, the length of your barrel, a scope, a laser or whatever contraption you could come up with ... the sights are still going to be more of a guideline than an effective aiming point. Factor in velocity variation, drop, wind, variation in paint .. everything ... you're still going to end up watching your impact points and leading your shots 'tracer' style.
A sight is just going to help you guess where the first shot might land (if use correctly) ... it's a guideline at most ... and far from the whole enchilada of aiming a marker.

I seriously hope that I'm mis-interpreting what you're saying there. Calling oneself a "sniper" implies that you are a camper with the lofty ideas of being some sort of Tom Berringer-esque one-against-one-hundred one-shot-one-kill schmuck who thinks that they're somehow "better" than someone who plays aggressively and uses a bit more ammo for a higher hit count. It certainly does not make me think that the said "sniper" is mature in the slightest. Just poorly informed and disillusioned.
It is possible to get those one-shot-one kill shots off every once in a while, but seriously, what good are you doing for the rest of your team when you're sitting in some shrub for a half-hour while they're slugging it out and actually taking firm real-estate? You aren't going to demoralize the other team with a lucky shot. You aren't going to hold up a whole flank by yourself indefinitely, you're just going to be patting yourself on the back for getting lucky once-or-twice and for how cool you think you look in your home-made ghillie suit while the rest of the guys are doing the real work. Give me a DM and 1,000 rounds and I'll punch a hole in a line and cause more chaos than any "sniper" ever could.

I understand what you both said but you may have misunderstood me...I am a sniper by not camping because but by remaining silent and slinking around the feild and fire off a hooper or 2 of paintballs when I need to....But all I'm trying to say is that it doesnt matter what you think that a sniper is lame or stupid....or if a person that go s straight into the fight with my ION or old Spyder...but you both can just say that both are equal and both are EXTREMELY deadly on the field #IF# they know how to play their position well.

About the snipers, I think the is such think as a player who can canceal him/herself very well and is deadly accurate, but a sniper? I believe the ony real snipers live in the country's military. A real sniper takes out V.I.P.s at any extremely long range (or short range), but sniping has more relations with military than paintball. Real sniping includes shots that can take hours to line up, not a quick sharp shot. Just for a nice cherry on the cake, the definition or Sniper.
Sniper:to shoot at individuals as opportunity offers from a concealed or distant position.
Just please, remember, you are a sharp shooter with concealment, not a sniper. I have relations with a military sniper, and what a paintball "sniper" is claimed to be, is nothing like a real sniper.

Well "Mean Man" said that a debate exists on the topic, since it seemed people were skirting around it, but "What To Do's" ignorant comment sparked the debate. Mean Mean never took a side. Both of you edited the quote though to make the conversation/ debate appear differently than it actually was.

No C4pher is saying that people who call themselves snipers are showing their knowledge and maturity level by using that title...as in their lack of both. As seen from the rest of his post he goes into why the term sniper and carefully aiming shots in such a manner is not applicable in paintball (as per the ideas of people who call themselves snipers). Basically he is trying to very diplomatically say what you said about "paintball snipers", by saying that he assumes sights might have some benefit although minimal in paintball.

We are saying that regardless of what Spec Ops sold you, snipers do not exist in paintball. Term is incorrect, if you want to discuss your playing style, reword into an accurate portrayal: Is it you prefer to outflank the opposition?

You know what makes me laugh the most about spec-ops and their silly little titles? There are names for the "positions" that they think they've created that have existed in the sport from almost day 1. If you flank, you're a tape-runner. If you're right in the thick of it, you play forward. If you're in the rear calling the shots, you're a back-player. If you change up your roll, then you're mid-field. If you hide out in one spot and only get one-guy-per-game and it took you 5 minutes to line up that one perfect shot.... you're a freaking newbie because all you got was that one shot before a veritable plague of paintballs rained down on you from all the other guys on the field.
