Well I bought a really cool drop forward today for my US-5.

The host that goes from the solenoid valve on the board to the asa is not long enough anymore.

I am looking at this now... and I see the clippard website and it seems you can only buy in 50 feet or 500 feet.

Now i'm coming to you, where have you guys bought this tubing?

And I need to know the size as well as the material.

also, another question:

Are there any benefits to using qevs on an e-bolt?

any good ways to increase cycle speed other than the 2-way mod

of lp line. is your ebolt already two wayed?

My ebolt isin't but I don't trust my own tech skills to drill it. Plus I don't really have $70 to spend on a new soleniod.

Yea. That is the exact same stuff that I am using. I am using the 2.0mm
stuff, but that's only because I ordered corresponding barbs and what not.
Depending on what you have I would get the smallest or second smallest
size.

are bigger barbs better?

right now, buying barbs or qevs as well as the line seems like a good idea as shipping is 5X as much as my order right now.

bigger barbs mean more flow. might as well pick up new ones and make
sure everything fits like it should and is nice and tight. i just did the same
thing. takes a bit to ship, but having swivel barbs on everything is nice.

so no opinion on qevs?

oh and where would one mount a gauge?

also, any regulators you reccomend that are fairly cheap?

actually, I'm not gona get new barbs unless you think they will grant extreme performance increases. The larger tubes may not fit into my custom-grip. (barely fits as is)

Barbs are not going to give you a huge performance gain. And unless you
are trying to get obtain lightening speeds with your gun, qevs aren't
neccesary either.

I say mount the guage in the reg, provided you have an extra 1/8th hole to
put it in. As for the reg itself, see if you can find someone parting one off of
a shocker/ion. I used one for awhile and it served it's purpose. Plus they
should be cheap.

is a reg that goes from the asa directly into the tank horizonatally my best bet?

or does a vertical reg work also with an e-bolt?

do I want a high pressure or low pressure reg?

Where you put the red is a matter of preference. I would go with one in the
vertical adapter because you are probably going to be using the asa for a lpr
(for the solenoid.)

As for high or low pressure regs, I would go with a high. You can lower your
operating pressure since you have an ebolt, but why take the chance of
going to low with a low pressure reg.

ok, thanks

just wondering, what is the air that goes from the asa, into the marker used for? (not the air that goes into the soleniod, the air that would go up the steel braided or macro line)

-------------

Ok...

The hose is the same stuff you would use on autocockers so just go to your local pb store and get the length that you need.

Bigger barbs = higher flow which means less chance of shoot down when shooting at higher speed, But unless you have a aftermarket board and ram fastest you will get is 15-16bps as that's asfast as the spring return will cycle without chopping.

QEV's= put on the back of your ram where the hose from the noid goes will allow you a slighty faster cycle time but then again you still have to deal with the spring so it is kinda pointless.

On the reg mounting your best bet would be to use a vertical adapter and use the reg as the forgrip.

Now high pressure vs. low pressure- I would personally just stick with HP, because if you went LP even though you have an ebolt you would still have to buy an low pressure kit which wil add just a bit of wait to the gum with the lp chamber, I had one on my 98c and all in all the gun shot just as good and didn't use as much air without it as it did with it. So just get the vertical adapter and a good reg that puts out 700-850 psi like a palmers or cp and you will good!

Last question! The air that goes in to ss hose/macro line hose into the marker goes into the vavle to have air to fire the paintball, the the air to the noid does is cycle the ebolt just gotta have air to the marker to propell the ball.

I hope i've answered all your questions! Have anymore just feel free to p.m. me.

Also I know I haven't been around in awhile and most won't remember me but trust me I know my stuff! All you have to is some simple searchs and you will see, that or some searchs on PBN same user name!

Peace,
Chadington

Carl,

What in the world have you to say that amounts to over 4700 posts (at this time) when you don't know how the ball gets blown out of the end of the barrel? I hope you haven't been passing yourself off as an expert to a bunch of new players.

Guys, should we ban Carl from the forum until the can pass a comprehensive test on marker function?

ummm... I thought it was different for an e-bolt?

I thought any air that is used for the marker to function, passes through the solenoid and into the ram?

sorry that I can't figure out what the air in front of the ram does.

I know how it's done on a normal marker, I just can't figure out the point of it an an ebolt

A normal marker?

All the ebolt does is make a 98/98c operate like a timmay, bushmaster, angel etc.. so if you know how one of them works then its the same general concept..

Shouldn't be had to figure out!

And nine out of ten times a reg is going to help. It will help keep the airflow consistant and help on spikes when using Co2.

As the more consistant airflow into the gun the better your accuracu is going to be.. but you will also need a good paint to barrel match and good paint.

God I miss the days when you was promoted on merit not post.. reason i'm not a gold member anymore.. won't let me be till I hit a grand but its no biggie to me so I will continue to post useful info till I make my mark.

Carl, Carl, Carl!!! The only mechanical difference between the standard marker and the marker with an E-Bolt is the method used to strike the pin of the power valve.

The standard marker uses a spring to drive the "hammer" forward to strike the pin of the power valve. The E-Bolt marker uses a pneumatic ram, instead of a spring, to drive the "hammer" forward to strike the pin of the power valve.

The power valve is still the part that controls the gas flow through the marker to drive the ball out of the barrel.

Gas to the power valve is separate from the gas that goes to the ram via the solenoid.

Some of the  gas from the ASA enters a low pressure regulator (Built into the GTA ASA or added to a port in a standard ASA) that is routed to the solenoid valve that controls actuation of the ram. All this gas does is actuate the ram driving the hammer on the end of the ram rod into the pin valve which opens the power valve. That ram gas is vented having no function in directly propelling the ball.

The remainder of the gas from the ASA travels through the hose (braid or Macroline) to the power valve. If the power valve is a low pressure type there needs to be another regulator (and a Volumizer)between the ASA and the power valve to reduce the pressure that the power valve sees.

But, LP Power Valve or not, there is a separate volume of gas from the ASA that goes to the power valve. The power valve pin is struck by the ram's hammer rod (or ram rod head) which then releases gas into the power tube. That gas travels forward through the forward bolt to push the ball.

Carl, it's all now been said and I am still disturbed that you have not understood the functional operation of your marker to this point.

:o

I am stunned.

Posted By: carl_the_sniper

Oh, starting to make sense.

Sorry but what I thought was happening (which I now know is wrong) was that:

-air goes into ram, pushes ram out

-linkage arm which is attached to ram moves out with bolt

-bolt hits paintball, flies out, spring on ram returns

But what is actually happening is more like the opposite of what I thought, and if I am to be correct, The whole purpose of the ram is to return the bolt back into it's origional position?

Sorry guys, now I see that it was stupid. I completely misunderstood what the ebolt actually changes on the firing system of the marker.

So, to clarify, does it help alot if the air going into the soleniod is regulated first (therefore, I would have to run it between the tank an lpr) or can I just run it in a standard regulator position? (between the lpr and marker)

Posted By: bluecocker33
Date Posted: 09 April 2007 at 4:54am
Well to answer that question.

It already is getting regulated. LPR-low pressure reg.. it brings the pressure down from the 850psi tank output to 40-60psi into the 'noid.

But as explained before putting a reg between the lpr/asa gta setup and the marker is where you sill see the most benefit.

And you could always use a aftermarket type lpr[any lpr that works on a cocker] and it would provide a little better consistancy tha the GTA setup, but then you would have to get a asa that has two places for a hose.

I want the a-5 outsides but I don't need the insides (they have hopes for cyclone, my us-5 doesn't have a cyclone.

Can I use is without the valve? aka with just the low pressure chamber? or is the valve really important?

also are there any real advantages to a low pressure hpa tank over a high pressure?

The valve is the heart of the lpk. I would say you'd need the valve to see any difference in performance.

hm... looks like the va on the a5 has a veird attachment.... the thing that looks like a fully atached hookit would be the same size, i'm just unsure about the hook think but I guess it wouldn't matter anyways because it also replaces the power tube.

so you don't think the hole where the cyclone ataches to would cause an air leakage problem?

I really don't know, but I thought the cyclone attached to the power tube. So if you just used the power tube you already have you would be fine.

The LPK includes a new power valve, not a power tube. Uses the OEM tube.

Oops, I see that the Tippmann Low Pressure Kit DOES include the power tube...but is is a standard tube...nothing different about it.

I put extra long leads on my battery to store it in my hpa tank cover. There is no room in the grip frame and I don't want to use the ebolt battery box. So I just zip up the battery in my tank cover.

After looking at pics of the US5, there really aren't many places to put one. You could fabricate some sort of little box out of sheetmetal or something and put it down near the asa. Maybe something right in front of the trigger guard.

Also, nice sig. lol.

Lol you know it's true.

the box itself would fit with some mods to the box.. maybe I will try that

I bought an a5 field strip pin which is 1/4" longer than a US-5 one.

It may be long enough to pass through.. gona go drill now and find out.

Yes, because of pressure spikes.
