Heeyyy If you had 600 dollars for a gun hpa and hopper and all upgrades that you would put on the guun, which gun would it be and what upgrades would you put on it?
It has to be noob assembly friendly and easy to maintain, and I will be running a 68/45 on it no matter what.Woodsball by the way, no ion or the like, unless you feel its a good woodsy marker.

All electropneumatic markers make good woodsball markers. I don't see how people can have such a misconception. Just because it isn't black and mil-sim looking, or covered in cammo tape, doesn't mean it can't perform superiorly in the woods. I can guarantee you that a speedball marker will hold up every bit as well as a 'woodsball' marker. Tournament grade markers are designed to be slammed against the ground, slid with, fixed on the spot, etc. Unless you have a major electrical malfunction (which is 90% user created, not from hard use or factory issues but screwing around with stuff you shouldn't) there's a lot less to go wrong with an EP marker than at typical mechanical one.

Now, with the preconceived misconception out of the way, I'd suggest getting a used older high-end marker if you want performance already in the marker. DM3/LCDs are going for under $200 a lot of places now. Add in $80 for a used HaloB or ReloaderB-2 and a tank and you've got it made. Older LED angels are also a good buy for the price as are DM4's and used PMRs. If you insist on going new, get a LaSoya Promaster from over at Action Village for $199. They're very nice markers, especially at that drastically reduced price (they're originally around $500 new).

I agree with tallen.  The woods-prejudice against "speedball guns" is ridiculous.  If anything, many speedball electros have some qualities that are highly prized in the woods, like quiet operation and great efficiency.  Mechanical blowbacks are loud and inefficient.

But it all depends on what you are looking for.  And A-5/X-7, for instance, gives you a lower profile than a vertical feed gun (barring Qloaders/Warp feeds), which can be useful in the woods.  Mechanical guns also allow you to whip out a screwdriver to fix or tweak your gun, which makes many gear-heads happy.  Hard to tinker with your electro.

If you do enjoy milsimming, most of this gear is aimed at mechanical guns again.  It would be a challenge to milsim an Angel, although the Ion is breaking down this barrier as well.

For me, however, the main reason that I like to play mechanical in the woods is the feel of the gun.  Electros are fun, but they feel so artificial to me.  I'll play with those inside, but when I'm bellycrawling I want a gun that shakes when I shoot, and makes enough noise to wake the neighbors.

There is little doubt that my Angel is the "best" gun I have (and I have many guns), but that doesn't mean that it is the most fun.  And isn't fun what this is really all about?

So pick the gun that makes you feel happy inside.  If unloading ropes at 20bps gives you that special feeling, buy a nice electro.  If you want a loud obnoxious gun that looks scary and you can take apart yourself, buy a blowback.

Or whatever else gets you excited.

I really wanna get into the pump scene.
Phantoms are a good choice correct?
There is so many choices of the phantom, could someone give me a link or tell me which one is best for woodsballing.NO STOCK CLASS, that seems way to boring.
what hopper should I use and what are some noticeable performance upgrades that dont break the bank?
Anyone else prefer pump play oppsed to semi auto or paint throwers?

pump is fun, but don't go investing a ton in it to start out. Go out an buy a used Trracer, Hammer, or Maverick before jumping into a CCI CCM Carter or LAPCO pump (YES folks, LAPCO is making markers again YAY!!! The first Ghosts have made it into their owner's hands and they're liking what they've got!)

Anyway, back on track. The point is, don't go spending a mint on the pump scene since it may not be your thing. It looks fun, seems smart due to the lower costs associated with playing, etc. But what you may find is that while you find pump play great, others in your area may not like it so much and you may be hard pressed to find others who want to play along the same guidelines. You may love it, in which case you still have money to get a great marker, or you may hate it and that way you don't have a ton invested in it. As for hoppers, the 40-round BE or old tippmann hoppers are a must. Also, 4oz BE 'talon' players kit tanks and 7oz tanks are much sought after to keep the marker tight, small, and light.

As for your assumption that stock-class is boring, no way! 12g and 10rnd is the only way to play pump!

You either love or hate pump play. Dont invest a lot yet. Look for a Traccer, Maverick, or SL-68 II to test out pump play.

I love pump play and doubt I will ever own another semi gun(unless I decide to pick up some pneus and the works for my cocker). All of the people that I play with who have tried it hated it.

Tallen mentioned a gun worth lookign into. DMLCDs, more commonly referred to as DM3s, are selling for cheap now with a lot of upgrades on them. Throw a 68/4500 and a Halo on it, and you have one nice machine that can handle woodsball or speedball.

im just scared to get one of the higher end guns such as a dm3 and have absolutely no idea how to take care of the beuty.

Will do, Ill go on ebay right now and look for a traccer or a maverick.Do i need a specialized hopper for that gun? so a 4 oz tank, how many shots will that get me?

is this a good deal? its brand new so i wouldnt have to worry about it being bad.

Care of a DM-series marker is as simple as pulling and lubing the bolt and o-rings (one assembly slides out the back together, so it's pretty simple) every 10,000 shots. Other than that, keep the eyes clean with a little canned-air or rubbing alcohol on a q-tip and you're good to go so long as you change the battery about every 5k shots (9v just clips into the harness in the back of the marker) Seriously, my DMLCD is easier to take care of than my pro-lite was.

As for the trracer or Maverick, a regular hopper will fit, but most people prefer the little 40-round jobs that WGP and BE made for a while.

As for the 4oz tank, you'll get quite a bit off of that since there isn't a need for blow-back gasses which reduce efficiency.

what kind of maintenance is needed on say a phantom?
Is it hard to learn the assembly and the parts break down, how it works and how to maintain it?
Oh and sorry for editing that post after you posted, ( I walked away) but is it a good deal?

If you really want to buy something nice, and not get killed on the price, go http://www.mcarterbrown.com/forums/ - here
and post a Wanted To Buy thread in the WTB forum. See who bites and offers the best deal. Don't be in a rush, good deals will come along very quickly. Also, chances are you can pick up a package (50rnd hopper, small Co2 tank, and marker) for about what you'd pay for a new one on e-bay.

Hey I heard people say that pump guns are worthless in woodsball and that pumps are usually just used in speedball, is this true? Is the lack of fire power gonna get me killed every single game?

Posted By: Rambino
Date Posted: 12 April 2007 at 5:35pm

I don't think I have ever heard that before - the converse is stated frequently, however.  You can get by with less firepower in the woods, but in speedball firepower is seriously important.

But playing pump when others are playing semi+ will place you at a major disadvantage no matter what the game.  Doesn't mean it can't be done, but it is very challenging.

Only get the pump if you don't mind being outgunned.  Because you will be outgunned.

Very few places have pump only games. Playing a pump against semi's and full-auto's can be very frustrating. It can also be very exciting and help one improve their game. I usually try to play at least one game with one of my pumps each time I play. With the rare exception of someone who borrows my backup pump, I am usually the only pump player on the field.

If I had $600 to urinate away on a new gun, hopper and HPA I would buy an ATS AT-85 and a cheap HPA tank.

http://www.getrealpaintball.com - www.getrealpaintball.com

If not that an A5 with a ICP Bullpup kit.

Since I already have a gun though I would get a nice 3357 and maybe an ATS

It's just a milsim kit to make the A5 look as much like a Bullpup as possible.

One thing that you could do is talk to the field owner and talk about pump games. For example: You go to your field owner and ask if you could designate a day for pump play ONLY. Let the owner have special deals on air or something like that. Then you should have some people come to the place with the cheap Wally world guns like a Brass Eagle Talon Ghost or some off brand Pump that they sell... tell your friends and get your friends to tell their friends and so on... then you should have some people show up to play pump games!
