I saw a site a long time ago that had aftermarket shrouds for the 98 custom flatline, can anyone tell me where it is? Or any sites you know of that have aftermarket shrouds?

I've seen the aftermarket aluminum shroud but I'm quite sure that they discontinued making them. You might be able to find one over on PBnation or ebay.

Tippmann discontinued the Aluminum shrouds years ago. I know http://www.undergroundmodshop.com - www.undergroundmodshop.com has 98-A5 Flatline adapters that are useless.

no, the flatline requires special threads and adapter. you have to get the 98 flatline if you want one for your 98.

Uber,
If you already have an Apex, why are you asking about the Flatline shroud? The barrels are not similar in any way other than the fact that they create backspin on the paintball.

Ummmm tha apex doesn't creat ANY backspin, believe me. I've been using it for 1 and a half years and it doesn't shoot like a flatline at all

ROTFLOL!!!

Well, this is the BT Apex. It contains a fingertip controlled ramp inside the oversize tip that can be adjusted to shoot flatline style or curve right, left and dive bomb. The degree of spin is adjustable to actually give longer range than a Flatline.
Now what barrel are you talking about?

obivously you think you have an apex, but you either don't, someone sold you the barrel part without the tip or you dont know how to slide a switch forward.
and FYI, I believe Bruce owns at least one apex, probably two. in fact that 98 pictured in his sig uses one.

| First off Mr. Hamster, are you aware that there are rules here about vulgarity and profanity...and three strikes and you are out...perminantly. Some have even been successful at being banned for one incident.
Second, and I know it is probably beyond you capability, if you would do just a little search you might find some of the stuff I have posted about extensive accuracy test at both long and short range...and about the unique performance qualities of this barrel.

If you're going to try and make me look stupid, at least use proper grammer, unless it's beyond 'your' capability.
Yes, I know what an apex is, i'm not retarded, of course it has the tip, but all that does is make it curve, i've yet to see any backspin from an apex at all. Thereis no 'hovering' effect with the apex, which is what backspin does to the paintball, makes it look like it's hovering through the air. And besides, why do you care if I want a flatline? It's my money, not yours. I got my apex for free, so it's not like i'm loosing any money. All I did was ask a simple question, I didn't need the forum nerd to attack me.

| Actually, the barrel in the signature is my Hammerhead barrel. But I do own an Apex barrels and two Flatline barrels (Two 98Cs in the family).

Forum nerd! Thank you! Should I go into depth explaning how the curve is generated from the spin imparted by the rubber covered ramp mechanism in the barrel tip of the Apex? At this point, since you have been using the barrel for 1.5 years and have remained unaware of the physics of making a paintball curve, I fear it would actually be beyond you.
As for asking why you wanted a Flatline shroud when the Apex performs as well, I thought you might have come up with some cool modification to use the shroud on the Apex. My interest is because I have one of the metal Flatline shrouds that I no longer need. I tend to give away, a fault of mine, paintball equipment I no longer use and I thought I might offer the shroud to someone who could use it.
But, Mr. Pottymouth, apparently you concluded I had insulted you. Thank you for quickly clarifying that you have no intent and little ability to participate in discussion.

Lol this is so funny
I'm suprised you are still helping him Bruce, he doesn't deserve it.
And the apex does work, and really well. It sounds like you used your apex once, turned the spin all the way up, it flew upwards or hit the ground, you decided it was crap and never used it again.

Yep thats true, level 4-5 are the best. I love my apex and it works SOOOOOOOOOO much better than the flateline. Its also not paint picky, doesn't break paint, and is actually suprisingly pretty accurate. But then again you can't blame hamster, cause the barrel doesn't come with an instruction manual but i caught on within 10 minutes not a year and a half. LOL

yea, a guy i was playing with didn't realize why his apex was shooting downward when he had it on lvl 8. i told him to put it at lvl 4 and he pretty much creamed himself when he saw the result...
i'm considering picking up an apex for myself, might even put the tip on my J&J... hehehe

Yea but you might have to get the apex adaptor from the undergroundmodshop i dont know if it mounts directly on a J & J but it might. But to make sure the adaptor is only like $15

LAPCO makes a adapter for the apex that will attach it to a threaded barrel! no one asked but I though i'd throw it out there! I have the new CP tactical barrel and got that adapter and now switch back and forth between the stock CP and the apex! Man this was a great thread to read threw HAHAHA!!!!! Jason

Hey dude, if you don't want your Apex, I'll take it. Just kidding. But not really.
www.opsgear.com used to sell shrouds. There might be something there that isn't discontinued yet.

This looks like a long dead thread but I'll take a shot anyways. I just bought a flatline 98 to go on my sierra one and I'm trying to figure out how to mod it to accept a rail underneath... (even going so far as to possibly build my self a metal one peice shroud to replace the somewhat cheap feeling plastic). The guy at my local shop suggested screwing or gluing a rail to the bottom but if i were to do that the shroud would be glued together and so far as screws or bolts go I'm somewhat hesitant to put them into the plastic shroud without atleast putting nuts to hold them in... I don't know anyone have any suggestions?
