So I was using my Tippmann 98 custom the outer day and the outer shell of my gun broke. Would this be covered by the warranty? If not how could I fix this?

Picture (kinda blurry):

The crack goes to the bottom of where the stock is and is only 1/2 the gun. But the piece is completely free and falls out. When it does the stock falls off and the spring flys out.

Call up tippmann... they should cover it.

It could be a miscast shell that resulted in this problem and they would cover that.  Unless you smashed really hard there.

i dont know if tippmann would cover that or not, youd have to call and find out. if they dont, just buy a new reciever half....and DONT put that silver screw back in

Ok sorry for my belated reply. I have been back and forth with tippmann a few times and this is what I have gotten from them.

"According to the serial number this is out of warranty, we would charge for the parts that need replaced."

The 98 Custom I got second hand from one of my friends. The stock installed on it is a stock for a A5 (dont ask why he just diddnt get the 98 stock.) I have attached a photo of how the stock was installed.

There was a black screw that was in there but it snapped off, leaving the stock loose and bouncing around and thats what caused the crack, and the piece to fall off. Right now, I have but the stock back on and am using 2 washers to hold the piece in place. I am unsure how to install the stock cap that goes on there with a chunk missing out of the gun.

How would I be able to fix this? (I know about white metal so dont say soder.) Can I buy a body kit or like 1/2 of the shell of the marker? Or should I send it to tippmann and let them fix it.

Tippmann's fix is going to be replace the shells. It will likely cost you less to do it yourself

You might be able to epoxy the parts back together with a product like JB-Weld, but the support required in that area to handle both the stock loads and the impact from the recoiling hammer is pretty high.

New shells are available from Tippmannparts.com

^^^ In addition to what Bruce said, your diagram makes it appear that your friend did some body modifications to make a part that wasn't designed for the 98 go on one.  Even if the warranty wasn't expired, that would in all probability void the warranty.

So your pal buys a stock, realizes it was the wrong one, and instead of bringing it back for the right one uses a screwgun to keep it in place? Nice.

yeah, thats why I said dont ask about the stock.  His dad got him the A5 stock becuase he said that the 98 one loodes smaller and toy-ish.
