It has nothing to do with being black-it has to do with arrogance and the self absobed ego trips that run rampant in Hollywood and the music industry.
And white guys are doing it every day.

I'm calling shens, just look at the freakin' website you linked to...
Yes, he went too far on stage as I would not pay to see a rapper hump a woman accross it, at least, not Akon. However, they have a lot more of her pictures at the bottom of that page, and she definitely looks older than 14. Age of consent in that country is 16 btw, and she looks much closer to that age or older. Yes I know looks can be decieving, underage b&, JB threads in /b/ etc.
Secondly, the article states he shocked an audience, they looked more thrilled than shocked. Again, look at the site you linked.. celebrity gossip, oh that's credible.

I'm a little surprised that you people are so surprised...
It's not like faking sex (or not-so-faking sex) on stage during a music show is new or original. Been done, oh-so-many times.
The only quasi-news here is that the girl apparently turned out to be a little younger than she looked and acted. And I am sure that no other 14-year-olds have ever faked sex (or not-so-faked)...?
Maybe I'm missing something here, but I just don't see the excitement.

So I finally watched the video, and now I REALLY don't see what the big deal is. If she is just a couple of years older I have absolutely zero issue with this, and deem it fairly mild stage entertainment. You people need to get out more.
She is certainly on the young end of the preferred age range here, given Akon's age, but that's the only real concern - and I can't blame Akon for thinking she was older.

And you guys seem to be missing a fair part of this. He told women that there was a contest, and the winner gets to go to africa. So he got these women up on stage, and tossed them around. This one happened to be 14, you can make a big deal out of that if you want to or not, it could easily be a mistake...but still...looks like he's being a total a-hole to her.
Either way, in the end: there is no contest. mmmmm, lies and manipulation. These women skanked themselves out on stage for nothing more than Akon sweat on themeselves.

I'll give Akon credit for some catchy songs-that's a higher level than most rap achieves to. Rap is one of the few genres of music I actually prefer the more commercialized forms to the bare, raw stuff.
As far as character, most rappers are a-holes who promote abuse to women, so no shock here. He's just doing what millions of people pay him to do-set the female gender back a couple hundred years or so.

"and Akon’s dry humping is supported" - i can't help but laugh at that lol.
and of course the brother is going to say "it's not the parents fault"..it's his parents also. and she had the choice to go up there... if the "my friends made me do it" is working here, then it can work for anything, and get anyone off the hook. and if her friend "had her back", they wouldn't have "made" her go on stage. the whole thing is bogus, and akon is the last person who is to blame. the parents are irresponsible, the girl is a skanky hoe, the bouncers didn't do their job, and the friends are pushy and obviously not her friends. rapid fire is also right, 2 completly different faces, crying in front of daddy, but lovin the attention on stage. the whole thing is rediculous.

Unless you are an avid fan of rap, chances are you haven't heard "most rappers."
The crap you see/hear on MTV or the radio is only fueled by a cycle of capitalism. People "dissed" other people, and made millions. Now, rappers diss people to make millions, and make millions by dissing people (plus some other equally retarded crap that people find cool)
The majority of rap you don't hear is very little like that, though. Aside from the underground rappers saying the same thing as mainstream rappers just to try to get more money, the majority of small time/lesser known rappers are rather eloquent with their words regarding women, or just don't mention them at all.

^^^^ You know, I keep hearing that argument from genre connoisseurs for a variety of genres - "the jazz you hear on the radio is just the sellouts, man".
While this may be literally true, is this really a useful statement? When somebody says "I don't like metal", don't we really know what they mean - that they don't like the metal they have heard in public venues? "Country music is just about people losing their jerbs" - don't we know what they mean, even though there is plenty of "underground country" that doesn't involve any jerblosing?
Sure, yeah - there is tons and tons of rap/metal/jazz/country/whatever music that most people outside of the inside haven't heard. But is that relevant? I think we all knew what was meant here with this generalization about rappers, and while it is quite possible that there is a whole underworld of "other" rappers, that's pretty much irrelevant, isn't it? Shouldn't we judge the generalization by how it applies to mainstream rappers, since that is really who he was talking about?

So we let the minority represent the majority? this is just like racism...kinda. We don't (or aren't supposed to, anyway) judge a race of people just because of the stupid ones that fit the stereotype.
Long argumanet short: We typically don't approve of generalizations or stereotyping for anything else, why should music (and the people that make it) be different?

Interesting parallel... :)
Let me rephrase: Rap =/= Rap.
If I say "I like rap", by "rap" I mean "pop rap". "Underground rap" might as be a different genre altogether. I am not generalizing from "pop rap" to "underground rap" - I am not addressing or making a statement about "underground rap" at all, any more than I am addressing metal, whether "pop metal" or "underground metal".

Meh. Unless its stated in the description, I tend not to differentiate between the two.
Point taken, I guess.

Also, 10 points to Gatyr for making it appear as though he was quoting himself.
