1. What do you need with an Ion to use co2.

2. Will using co2 in an Ion void the warrenty.

3. Once I have the part to use co2 will the gun be able to use co2 and compressed air or will it only accept co2

I'm thinking about getting an A-5 or Ion.  I've done my reasearch on the two and I know the Pros and Cons of both guns very well, but being tight on money, I having some trouble deciding.  If I get an Ion the only upgrade I'll make is probably the switch from co2 to HPA.  If I get an A-5 I'll get a 12 or 14 in j and j ceramic barrel, stock, and remote coil.

The only real thing holding me back from the A-5 is I don't know how it will perform in speedball.  I know it is not made for this, but has anybody had any sucess on a speedball field. I forgot to say that i'm sticking with the stock trigger.

It'll perform well in speedball, but it has its disadvantages, and it's mainly focused in its weight and the cyclone, cause when you take snapshots from your right side, you'll present a bigger target. In the end, if you want to focus in speedball and buy the A-5, later on you'll want to buy another marker for sure.

Not a good idea to run Ions on CO2, but I've seen it done. You would want anti-siphoned CO2 along with a Palmer's Stabilizer, better yet, 2.

As for A5's in speedball, they can perform fine given the right upgrades. As mentioned, they are heavier than speedball guns, but for the occasional game, this should be no big deal.

Ions can run on CO2 (anti-siphon) although compressed air is recommended (as per the manual). Your gun is not altered and can readily accept an HPA tank when you get one.

for what it would cost to get a decent setup for co2,it would probably be cheaper to buy an aluminum tank or a used carbon.

OK lets say I get a smart parts anti-siphoned co2 tank, will it void the warrenty for the gun and will using co2 in the gun risk internal damage?

sorry guys i have to say running an Ion on Co2 is just wrong.

You'll eventually trash the gun as it was designed to run on air.

It states that in the manual iirc.

1. Anti-Syphon and a co2 capable reg

2. Yes. Smart Parts is mean like that

3. All regs should be able to use HPA, anti-syphon I believe will only accept an anti-syphon tank.

Any marker can be used for anything. But the A-5 is pretty long, and bulky. And if you keep stock trigger you will not go past 3 maybe 5 bps. If you want to use it for speedball, you can, but IMO it was really annoying.

a carbon fiber wrapped tank runs like 30-50 dollars on ebay and with all the crap you have to get with co2 (anti siphon tank and a stabalizer) the hpa tank would be so much cheaper. you can also get a brand new 72/3000 for like 70 bucks on paintballgear if you want it brand new

98% of ion owners think ions are better than any high end gun. If you would like to bonus ball these idiots put this in your sig.
