Just got back from the 11:30 show.
Impressions-
Underwhelmed. It's as if the writers have never heard of tension, or pacing. It's like history, just one bloody thing after another.

I am forced to go to the theaters this weekend to see it.

My wife can't get enough of Orlando Bloom (or Johnny Depp).

In fact, I do believe the last time I was dragged to a theater was to watch the second installment of this series.

Didn't get to see 300 or 28 Weeks Later just yet, but I refused to see Apocalypto. I haven't really found a movie out yet that I'm just dying to see.

I'm going to a pirate themed party (rum only) then we're going to try to get in and see it. We're not counting on making it in (big lines, etc) then going back and pirating it up more.

Nope.
But at least the sequels aren't as disappointing as the matrix sequels. Then again, that's probably because The Matrix was better than POTC 1.

It had it's moments.

*SPOILER ALERT*
Like Jack in Davy Jones' locker, with the crabs, and his hallucinations, which were hilarious, and the dunes were pretty cool looking.

I just bought Apocalypto and watched it yesterday-awesome movie. Kind of crosses up the usual lone wolf hero/Rambo movies with the ancient history setting. Very cool, IMO.

Agree completely. The whole PotC series would suck if Johnny Depp wasn't
the main character. His acting as Captain Jack Sparrow is some of the best
I've seen.

Some of my friends planned a pirate party with rum only but it never got and wind in it's sails. I am going to a 60's party. Thankfully I have long hair and bell bottoms within this general vicinity.

Exact time I said coming out of the movie. 45 minutes too long.

That whole final battle scene was good, but not really needed for as long as it was.

Ending was crap.

Saw it tonight. Just a couple of thoughts...

Seeing Kiera Knightley as the "King of Pirates" or whatever was really
lamed. She looks nothing like a pirate nor plays the part well.

The whole getting married while fighting scene= terrible and maybe the
most overdramaticized moment in all of film. Awful.

The final battle had potential out the roof. What's cooler than seeing a
pirate coalition going head-to-head with the English Armada. What do we
get instead? The Black Pearl and the Flying Dutchman floating around in
circles getting nothing accomplished.

Lastly... WAY TO DAMN LONG! Jesus, they could've condensed just about
everything in the movie. Just for that I give it 7/10.

Overall though, I would say 5.5/10. Had SO much potential coming off of
the terrible 2nd one, but failed to capitalize. Johnny Depp was still
amazing.

Did anyone stay after the credits? I did because my friends told me there was a clip at the very end. It is at the very very end of the credits so you have to sit there for a long time. I was the only one left in the theater and the clean up crew had come in and turned on the lights. Luckily they turned them off so we could watch it more clearly.

Just saw Pirates tonight at the drive-in along with Wild Hogs. I was far more impressed with Wild Hogs, which was far funnier than I'd have thought.

Pirates was a mess. One of my favorite parts was the midget firing the very large gun and getting blasted back. Also, Keira Knightley with her leg up offering the boot. Seemed to me Keira likes it on top. And he'll get to see her, like... five more times.

Crappy as a movie it was from a critics standpoint(Writing, acting, etc.) it wasn't bad for the regular moviegoer....

it was somewhat funny with decent action...who needs more to enjoy a movie?

the comedy had been done, kinda got old
and the action was wrecked by horrible acting, like getting married while fighting, and the retarded little comments they would say to each other.

Geoffrey Rush was excellent, despite the overall blandness of the movie. I'm a fan of his.

I wish he got to do more. I really liked him in Love Actually, which also had Keira in a pretty good, subdued, role.

Holy crap! Someone else who saw and enjoyed Love Actually? Nice.

Brilliant British comedy. One of my favourite movies, actually. And Keira's in it.

Yup, he actually said that.

I liked it overall. True it was really long, but the action was great, and the effects were seamless. A lot of the jokes were lame, but there were some good ones too.

About the end: *SPOILER*
The writers said that since Will and Liz remained faithful for the 10 years, then the curse is lifted and they can both live normal lives again. So it adds a bit of closure, but I don't remember hearing anything about that in the movie.

I liked the movie It was kinda funny but just a little confusing. I am probably going to buy the DVD just to figure out some of the stuff.

I found myself too impatient for the end to come, and didn't enjoy it much.
