I'm thinkin about gettin a high end single 15" sub, or two mid-range 10" subs. Not sure which hits harder, so I'm just askin. BTW, its gonna be pushed by a 1400 watt mono. Will take help with brands also. Thanks.

Personally I like two 10s over one 15. With the right box and amp you can get plenty of beat out of them. Plus I just think they give a crisper/cleaner sound than one 15.

Two 10s sound better than one 15. karll is right about the crisper/cleaner sound too.

Is this for a car stereo?

Because it all sounds the same to the guy who has to listen to the bass of your speakers while you blast your hip hop.

I much prefer quick, tight, accurate bass over the massive, resounding hit a lot of people seem to go for. Then again, I don't listen to much rap/hiphop.

Kicker produces a quality product for semi-low cost. I have heard some good stereos with their woofers. If you want to spend the extra money, JL is where it's at.

2 10's.  The bass will be tighter. sealed box

spray the interior of your box with car undercarriage sealer.  the black dry stuff.

so you're splitting the signal from a single channel if you go 2 10s?

I'm using my 1400 2 channel for two 10's. But I have a 1400 watt mono if I want a 15".

first of all what kind of car are you driving? if its some piece of crap 91' cavalier type of deal then spend your money on a better car. if not then i'd go with JL audio, infinity, or Bose. Bose is expensive but worth it imo. it depends on the music you listen to as well. different companies sound better with different music, i would't use a Bose system for rap/hiphop/r&b for that JL would work good.

Two 12's. 15s in my opinion are over kill. 12s will hit harder then 10s, but 10s sound clearer/cleaner then 12s depending on base levels.

I never really got into car audio. Most stock stereos sound fine to me. I'd rather save the money for gas.

My truck had Bose, my mothers SUV got JL. The JL system is louder, but has less treble than the Bose. Bose was not as loud, but sounded pretty damn good.

i would get 2 twelves or 2 tens.but one 15 would be pretty loud. Right now i have one 12 hooked up to 600 watts RMS. its plenty loud but if you want to blow everyone else away go for two at least.

most 15's are only 1000 rms, youll blow the sub, as i just did for the second time in less than half a year, somehow... back to circuit city, again...

and to answer your question the single 15 > 2x 10's
you might be able to get the 10's as loud but when the 15 first hits it feels like someones punching the back of your seat.

also, what brand of amp is it? alot of brands overrate the output( IE: Infinity) , if you get an amp make sure its cea rated, that way therye not allowed to lie about the output.

my infinity amp said 1300 watts rms and my new kicker zx1000 was dynoed at 1072 watts and it destroys the infinity amp
