What was the outside temperature you were playing at?

As CO2 expands it cools; sometimes dramatically. Cold CO2 expelled into humid air will fog. CO2 expelled when outside temps are very cold may fog just because it may not completely convert to vapor before entering the breech and exiting the barrel. Rapid fire will cool things down enough to cause fog even in low humidity. Rapid fire may also chill the liquid CO2 in the tank that it doesn't vaporize and liquid makes it into the marker. Fog tells you little. And has little to do with the chronoed velocity of the ball. When it starts to blow snow, you are wasting CO2. Slow your rate of fire, or switch to a new tank that hasn't any frost formed on its outside.

Shoot fast enough on a cold day and everything may stop because the CO2 will chill to the point that it solidifies in the tank (been there, done that).

It happens. The only way to fix it permanently is to get a HPA tank so you don't waste extra air. HPA tanks do sometimes make a little fog cloud but nothing big.

Which changes nothing I said. You do know don't you that CO2 is stored in the tank as a liquid? And for it to propel the ball it enters the marker as a high pressure gas. The conversion from liquid to gas is a cooling process that chills the liquid in the cylinder and cools the burst of gas. As the CO2 cycles through the marker it continues to expand and cool further. Therefore, when it exits the barrel it can be cool enough to cause condensation of moisture in the air...appearing as a shot of fog out the end of the barrel...regardless of ambient air temperature.

There can also be condensation of the CO2 itself as its temperature drops exiting the barrel. It is all normal!!!
