So I haven't been on that much lately...I know. People are saying: "Hey where's sporx?" So here's another little update.
I just graduated. YAY! I still have my job at bowling alley. (Chewp I tried getting you some shoes...but I felt guilty.) I just moved in with my dad for college conveinence in the fall. Anywho... I just got another job. I work in a state hospital for the criminally insane. No joke. I'm a "Forensic Rehab Specialist". I have been taking all these classes about mental disorders/illnesses, how to deal with the clients, how not to have sex with clients or give them drugs, (no joke. it happens) how to read their charts, check for vititals, and so on and so on. But I am now certified for take downs and restraints! Isn't that cool? Heck yes it is. Anyways. I'm pretty excited about my new job. I'm basically a nurses' aide and this facility is going to pay me to get my RN Degree. (which is what I was going to do anyways) I'm lucky that I'm stationed at the minimum security level. It's kida scary but fascinating to work with people with these illnesses. It's not something you see everyday. Picture the movie "Girl Interrupted" or "A Beatiful Mind" and Andrea Yates. That's pretty much what I'm dealing with. I can't really go in any more details due to HIPPA and JACOE regulations. So yeah...that's what's going on. -------------

What I'm curious about is. "How not to have sex with clients" What are the proper ways of having sex with the criminally insane?

ya. crazy. in class they actually performed the restraints on me. 
You would be amazed at the number of staff members that get fired for having sex with the clients. It's a problem out there and there's so many lawsuits over it. So they preach not to have sex with them. **EDIT** you just don't have sex with them. Now...when we do face checks and two clients are going at it then we have to check to make sure that it's not forced. If the sexual act isn't forced...then we have to let them finish. -------------

they are master manipulators. They will suck you in to do anything. If you don't follow through with them then they will blackmail you. For instance. Let's say John Doe wants a soda. He can't have a soda but he will beg and act up to make you give in and finally get him a soda. Big no no. Once you did that little favor then he will ask for more from you. Then if you don't get another soda for him then he'll reply "well you did it for me once. If you don't then I'll tell head nurse." This will go on to make them get sexual favors. -------------

I remember transporting a mental patient from the loony bin to the hospital because she refused to eat. She enjoyed repeating whatever myself or my partner said over the radio or to eachother. Rather annoying. She was also a grabber; meaning if something was in reach she'd grab it. Even when we had her hands restrained we had to be carefull about getting to close to them or she'd take our radios or anything off of our belts. When we got her to the hospital they were mad. They worked hard for a week to get her out of there and in to the mental facility and then she was turffed right back to them. The hospital police officer claimed he knew she was a grabber but chose to get close to her hands anyways. I said if he knew she liked to grab things then perhaps he'd be smart enough to keep his pistol out of her reach. He didn't say much to me after that and just left. Congrats on the grad by the way! So Sporx are they teaching you that MANDT System? I was taught that when I worked at I guess you could call it a "private institution" I was sick of getting kicked in the Junk when a few clients wanted to go at it, I don't care who you are, you just don't get punched/kicked in the junk and expect everything to be ok. I've also seen a couple of my "John Smiths" Take a wooden chair over another Staff persons back, client Slamming the door on a staff member resulting in a dislocated shoulder... wow, I kinda miss that place.
Thats the hours I used to work at my old job. It's WAYYY boring. I used to just sit their for hours playing Tekken on a friends PSP all night. I just wished that house had WiFi. -------------

MANDT is a joke. My wife had to learn it for her work a few years ago and practiced on me at home. No luck. I'm taller than her and could have torn her apart if I were a violent or angry patient. She got nothing but praise in class as being the best, and the teacher said I must have been some kind of anomaly and didn't accept my offer to come in and demonstrate how I avoided being pinned.
I forget what they called the previous system, but it was far superior. -------------

Not everyone in a mental institution are drooling zombies that moan, cry and scream 24 hrs a day. Many "clients" are very clever and very manipulative. More than a few are regular prison inmates that want to be in a RTP (Residential Treatment Program) for various reasons. Some for the attention. Some for not having to be locked in a cell all the time. Some for the drugs. Those are the ones you really have to watch for. They can start off looking the part of a mentally ill patient, but they are always watching you whether you know it or not. They watch how you treat other "clients", how you treat other staff and they take notes. Over time as they get to know you, they will try to get you to trust them. They have a long time to do it, so it will be subtle at first. It may take months if not longer. By the time you've figured it out, it's too late, and you'll be hooked up for overfamiliarity. You have to be as distant and dispassionate as possible. Watch the self-mutilators - they're the worst. Good luck to you Sporx! You're going to do a bit of growing up in that job. -------------

Had a chance to work as a Forensic Security Aid at Huron Valley Men's facility in Ypsilanti, but I was hearing too many bad things there. A "client" somehow ripped a towel bar or something off a wall and clubbed two FSAs with it, sending one to the hospital with multiple contusions to his head and several cuts. Far as I know he's recovered somewhat, but hasn't gone back to work. All this "client" got for the attack was 2 hrs of timeout in his room. What the &#@*?!? Sorry, not the kind of environment I'd want to be in. Big creds to you. -------------
