1. this has nothing to do with M&R, so wrong section.

I also do, so nyah. USAF works down in the basement somewhere....

I've gotten about 380 out of the many A-5s that I have tested.

The fastest I have ever heard of a paintball marker firing is 477 FPS, on a .68 Automag.

Although its quite easy to make a paintball marker fire much higher, (changing a spring, accually) many are not made to fire higher than 300 FPS for saftey.

Using a 17" barrel with very close fitting paint, a Volumizer and the dwell set a little long I unintentionally got 460 fps registered on my bench top chronograph.

Created a problem with the neighbor. The paint punched through 4 layers of corrugated cardboard I was using for my back stop and sprayed the gray fence behind it with pink paint. The paint bled through between the boards to the other side of the fence.

I washed my side of the fence, but didn't realize that the neighbor's side was stained. By the time she told me, it had soaked in and set up so that I could not get rid of the pink tinge in the wood. It finally faded in the sunlight.(Three months)

^I've never come even remotely close to somehow getting paint on a neighbor's property. It would be illegal for me to shoot on my property so it will never happen. This is the kind of thing that = bad press for paintball.

My buddy owns about 100 acres and that's where all of my testing goes down.

Under 300 fps is all I've ever set my guns up for. 289 max, 265 for indoor.

You can't fire your paintball marker in your own back yard? BTW, my neighbor's husband, son, my son and I all play paintball together. They have, on occasion, come over for BBQ and we tested their markers, in the back yard, over my chrono.

And, I offered to replace the stained boards in the fence (a fence that I 100% paid for to be built).

Many/most suburban communities have ordinances that prohibit firing just about anything (usually specifically including "air-powered guns") within city/town limits, unless in an actual range.  It would be illegal for me to fire my paintball guns in my home or yard.

Once you get into more rural areas this is less likely, but most people that live in or near cities are not supposed to be having target practice in the back yard.

(And, of course, normal tort and criminal laws apply.  If you hit somebody while practicing, you would be liable.)
