Most people in this forum, including me, like non mainstream, and talented bands, but I want to know, whats your guilty pleasure?, (somthing completly out of your usale music that you listen to?)

mine has to be Kelly Clarkson, I dont know why, but i think shes awesome, she dosnt wright her own music, but she is a very tallented singer, amazingly beautiful, and her songs are all so catchy, haha

there I said it, im not embarissed, (well a little, hehe)

edit, i hate american idol to, which makes it even wierder,

I just downloaded The Black Mages. It's Final Fantasy music with a rock/techno feel, and I'm finding I enjoy game soundtracks more and more.

It was absolutely awesome this morning when I merged onto the highway coming to work and the JENOVA battle music came on.

Plus I don't really get what most guys have against listening to girls sing, wouldn't you rather watch a girl on stage or in a music video then a guy?

Black Mages is absolutely not guilty.

Check out the soundtrack from Final Fantasy 7 Advent Children, its all by the Black Mages. Especially the One Winged Angel version on the soundtrack, its omgwin.

Fun fact: Nobuo Uematsu is one of the lead guys of the Black Mages, and he composed the music for most of the FF games, which is why theyre so faithful to the original.

Anyway, I think my guilty music would be Evanescence. I have a couple of their albums on itunes.

Spice Girls. I can't clearly explain why in a way that maintains my appearance of sanity.

Ha, yeah I don't hide it or anything. I'm actually pretty proud of myself for getting the toughest guy I know into Stars. He actually requested me to play a song that goes like this:

Couldn't hide my love for you

Yeah, I'm not gonna lie. I'm a big Linkin Park fan. Not so much for their lyrics, which have got to be the most emo thing I've heard yet, but I really like the way their music sounds. And I know a lot of people don't, but I also really like the way Chester sings.

Granted, but regardless, I still like 'em. Just because you don't, doesn't mean I can't. I take my music seriously, and if I find a band that I personally enjoy, then hey, I'll listen to it, regardless of if their other songs sound exactly the same, whether they aren't original, or whatever. If I like it, then there you go. This is gonna really shock you, but there are a couple of Nickelback songs I like as well.

Also, don't let these few bands be the set standard for my musical tastes. I'm fairly diverse with my music. I like anything from techno, catchy 80's pop (ex. Tears for Fears) and basically a little from all genres of rock. I'm not gonna lie, I don't really like rap or country all that much though.

PS: I don't like Chester's screaming, or Mike's "rapping." Personally, I like their cleaner songs better. BUT, I love the song "No More Sorrow" on their new album.

It appears my taste in music is pretty similar to yours DeTrevni. Out of curiosity, which Nickelback songs do you like? The only ones I'll listen to are Too Bad and Because of You. The second one is pretty different from their normal stuff which is probably why I like it. I find the rest of their stuff pretty annoying though. Same deal with linkin park. I used to listen to them a lot in middle school when hybrid theory came out but now not so much, I'm more into metal now (Soilwork, Disarmonia Mundi, etc.). I do listen to some techno now and then and the occasional 80's song but not as much as in the past. I just remembered a good one though.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=phHkVd_bwy0 - Gunther . Sandman must know of him if he knows http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=skU-jBFzXl0 - Tiny Tim .

Britney Spears.

That's right - I like "Hit me baby one more time", "Oops, I did it again", and all the other early-Britney bubblegum pop.

And I'll throw in another vote for Kelly Clarkson.  But frankly I think Clarkson has proven her singing ability at this point enough to shake off most of the Idol-stigma.

Panic! At the Disco, Gwen Stefani, and Billy Joel.

...and as much as I hate them, Fall out Boy.

I like Stefani's "Hella Good"... Very catchy guitar riff, albeit extremely simple. Other than that, not my thing.

Thats quite the guilty list there. Gwen Stefani as in solo career or No Doubt?

Both. Anything she makes seems to get stuck in my head for days.

Ah, forgot about that one. I don't really like anything Gwen Stefani had a part in but I do think that song is pretty catchy.

A few songs by the Crash Test Dummies.

Scatman John.

Drum Corps music. The thing with that is, going to a live show will make almost anybody like it. So I guess it's only guilty when in regards to people who haven't seen a corps in person.

The wierd small studio stuff, especially solo guitar/bass players.

Steve vai, joe satriani (some) eric johnson, SRV, craig d'andrea, antoine dufour, andy mckee, don ross, marcus miller and victor wooten.

that kind of thing.

The list is long and virtuistic, but...

Look, I'll even share:

Craig D'Andrea (he's only 22, and has only been playing for 7 years, but yet he creates music most 40th year players can only wet dream of):

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pfhlxF22tMU - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pfhlxF22tMU

Antoine Dufour (solo guitar, i call him "jello fingers" beacuse of his rampant jumpy, tapping glassy harmonics and slick trills):

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vRvRBQTqUKI&mode=related&search - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vRvRBQTqUKI&mode=related& amp; amp;search =

victor wooten (solo bass):

Andy mckee (solo guitar, creates passages that blow my mind on a regular basis):

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dt1fB62cGbo&mode=related&search - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dt1fB62cGbo&mode=related& amp; amp;search =

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T4Igb5Yors4&mode=related&search - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T4Igb5Yors4&mode=related& amp; amp;search =

Chet atkins (what can I say of him that hasn't already been so eloquently stated?):

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wsePsTEgiqU - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wsePsTEgiqU

Tommy Emmanuel ("Little chet" as I call him. about the only interesting thing australia has ever created (other than very fine women):

Covering classical gas by harvey mason: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TX0eTp7SonU - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TX0eTp7SoNU

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AhR04kmcSXU - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AhR04kmcSXU

The list is very long, but if you're into my kind of thing (no, not that) you may be in for a suprise.

By the way, Chet atkin's piece is amoung the most beautiful things i think I have ever heard. If it is so ever possible to say such a stark thing (?).

Nothing in that list is "guilty." All people on the list kick ass, and anyone who doesn't like them doesn't know what music is.

Andy Mckee is my favorite out of them all.

With the area I'm at, anything other than <insert generic country wannabe> or <insert generic black guy with fake jewerly> or <generic fm rock> is considered crazy talk.

And here I am, a fusion-blues fan (but yet, I despise al di meola, odd).

I also enjoyed the original Spice Girls efforts.  I don't know what it is about manufactured bubblegum pop - I guess the folks in charge know what they are doing.
