So I think I have a rather big air leak

I have a Tippmann 98 (not a costume the older versions)

And i have a 20oz Air Tank and im only getting maybe 400 shots off and i know i should get ALOT more than that

Anyway everything is screwed in good but iv never had the gun apart and the only thing iv added to it is a new hopper and a 16 inch barrel
Does anyone have a suggestion's to what the air leak could be?

Can you hear a hissing anywhere on the gun?

Yea you really need to tell us where the hissing noise is coming from and if there is a noise at all on the Co2 tank or on the marker.

You should learn how to take your marker apart also becuase the more you take it apart, the easier it is to fix things.

check your O-rings, some places might not fill it all the way, and long barrels are a bit of a gas hog, and you can be wasting alot of air if your gun isnt chrono'ed.

No, they aren't.

On a 98 (at least those without an RVA), the velocity is not adjusted by how much air is released from the valve. It is adjusted by screwing the adjustment screw into and out of the path of the expanding gas in the power tube. This screw interupts the flow of the gas, controlling the velocity. It has absolutely no effect on the gas usage of the marker.

On many other markers however, you are correct, because velocity is adjusted by the amount of gas used (this can be achieved in a number of ways).
