Simple question. If you could take one person's face off of a U.S. coin or bill, who would it be? Secondly, who's face would you replace it with?

Benjamin, with my own. So it'd be "All about the Kehagias(es?)"
Or the washington monies, so that I'd be the most commonly used currencies in America.

Take Jackson off the $20, and replace him with Martin Luther King Jr.
|

Andrew Jackson our 7th President was a War Hero. President, Congressman and Davey Crockett's wingman.
In his term in office he cleared the Federal Debt (only president in History that has), He fought against the National Bank.
In the same hand he did invade and steal Florida from the Spaniards and Relocated the Native Americans.
While Dr Matin Luther King has done great things in his lifetime wich was cut short. It's hard to say who is the better human being.
If i had to bump anyone ... i'd bump Hamilton. The 1st US treasurer

Although Jackson was seen for doing some great domestic things. I would still have him taken off for his removal of the Native Americans(although I see Hamilton as kind of an easy target for removal too). I think MLK deserves to be on that bill for what he did for all Americans over Hamilton and Jackson.

In my opinion, Teddy is classically overrated.
In all actuality, Grant was not a bad president, and was even liked quite well. Unfortunately he had the tendency to surround himself with people that caused scandals. However, he is described by some as one of the first progressive presidents (although that term would not stick when compared to other people).

Actually, it'd be kind of fun to really, really minorly alter the appearance of a prez on one of the bills. Do it very, very gradually, over years and years and years until the pic on the bill is someone completely different from when you started. See how many people notice that theres just some average joe on the bills after a long time.

That said, my vote is still for Greenspan, simply because of the amount of times I saved an argument in debate with a simple quote from him.

What are the qualifications? Domestic? Foreign? Humanity on whole? I have a hard time allotting the idea of the "greatest" president. Lincoln was very much disliked when he was in office, but we love him now.
I would go further to say that there have been many people that were never presidents, but have done just as much for people or the country.

That's case specific. I can't see picking one president to be the greatest, maybe the most consistently average. Also, I find it difficult to attribute greatness to people that also have records of serious mishaps. For instance, I am a fan of JFK, but you can not disregard The Bay of Pigs.

Good question. As a disclaimer, none can be considered the greatest, and not always because of what they did while in the presidency. Also, some for foreign reasons, others for domestic.
Jefferson, Wilson, Nixon, Kennedy, Clinton.
Those that could have been good. MLK and Robert Kennedy.

I left that part out... But, the money was for taking down the Soviets so... But hey, I did a great job, 104/100 was my score. I got 99 points out of 100, but then turned it in early for an extra 5 points.
We just judged him on, legislation, domestic affairs, foreign affairs, personality. I think that was it. If you look online, most websites rank him high on the best presidents list.

The country, or the money hungry government that was in charge before Regan? The standard income tax when Regan entered office was something like 74%. Sure, the government had plenty of money, but anybody not making $300,000+ (well, it's equivalent then) was living in poverty, or on savings. Regan lowered those taxes by 30 or 40%. So, it wasn't his fault that the government went into debt after that. He was doing what he could to stop the people of his country from crumbling beneath him.
I know that that sounds like of worshipful BS, but it's hard to explain why what he did was so great, without sounding dramatic.

Seriously, it's a little pathetic. |
Total win.
I can only recall Bush 1, Clinton, and Bush 2 with enough detail to make any kind of observation.
Bush 1=Decent, nothing worthy of having his head on my money.
Clinton=Decent as a president, unfortunately also decent at lying to the American people.
Bush 2-Need I say it?
So yeah, nothing really money worthy in my generation.

I personally think George W Bush takes more flack than he deserves. It's become "en vogue" to hate him, so everyone's jumping on the bandwagon.
He's ineloquent. So what. His intelligence is being judged by millions of people who aren't smart enough to know the difference. Speaking for myself, I'm smarter than 98% of the population and I stammer and blush when trying to talk to an attractive woman for the first time. I knew a lot of people in school who were quite smart and entirely inept at public speaking... Seriously, you try it sometime. Not as easy as it looks from the observer's standpoint.
The war in Iraq is entirely debatable, but why did no one yell and scream when Clinton sacrificed the lives of American soldiers in Bosnia and Somalia? Where was Cindy She-man (Sheehan) when these guys died: 1,245 in 1993; 1,109 in 1994; 1,055 in 1995; 1,008 in 1996. That's 4,417 deaths in 4 years of the Clinton administration. Don't get me wrong. It happens. That's the risk of their duty. It's just the hypocrisy and double standard that drives me crazy.
The popularity contest that is American politics and the self-serving, foundless arrogance of its people are getting way out of hand. We hear a clever tagline tied to a seemingly plausible theory (a few pages to summarize all the world's events) and, because it fits with what we want to be true, we buy it hook, line, and sinker.
This goes for everyone... Right, Left, Elephant, Donkey... So don't think you're immune. I know I'm not. I see this same idiotic tendencies in myself. It's the way our culture has taught us to (not) think.
But the truly depressing fact is how many people embrace the idiocy and how few fight it tooth and nail...
