I just got a Tippmann 98 Custom ACT that came with a CO2 tank. Had
the tank filled at a local painball place and went out and played with a friend. After about 15 minutes I switched tanks and used one of my friends because he wanted to empty it (didn't have much left in it). After that tank was empty, I unscrewed it and put mine back in. We played for about another 45 minutes. When I went to take out my tank it hissed a little and when it was totaly out of the gun, it continued to hiss and you could see air coming from the top of the tank. My friend put it back into my gun fired a few shots and tried to take it out. Same thing. Eventually, I just took the tank out and left it outside to empty (which it did). Any idea of what is causing this??? I plan to take it to the place I got it filled to see if they can figure out what's wrong. thanks. |

| ur o-ring probly ripped w/ the co2, check and if so replace it, happened to me when i first started and i was all scared lol |

it sounds like the internall valve went to crap that happened to me i think you will need to buy a new pin valve

^^^^yea seriously if you play woodsball or sumtin u shouls consider a 20oz or sumtin if its not to heavy for you, but if u just have it for fun like my little cuz then just stick w/ that
if u mean the valve on the tank then yea probly but who knows??? well this happened to me so im just sayin from experience that when i screwed in the tank the o-ring was bout to rip and then it did letting out all the co2 so i quickly removed the tank and through it on the floor and all the co2 was escaping cuz the little pin thats in the middle of the tank apperantly froze in that position???? that was wierd but i just but a new o-ring for it l8er and its fine im still using that 9 oz so who knows man u should get it checked or sumtin |

lol at throwing the tank on the ground. If that thing is even close to exploding, throwing it on the ground is the last thing you should do. |

There is probably not a major problem with the valve. An extremely tiny piece of grit can get into the seat area and prevent the valve from closing completely. If you don't keep a safety cap on the tank when not in use dirt can get around the pin on the tank valve. Then the tank is filled that grit can be carried inside and may work back into a place where it gets caught in the valve. It may possibly be dislodged by a quick burst of gas out of the valve. That can be accomplished, when the tank has plenty of gas in it, by placing the tank upright (valve pointing up) and bumping the pin with the rounded back end of a plastic screw driver handle. Be sure to wear goggles and gloves as the piece of grit can fly out with a great deal of velocity. Bump the pin 4 or 5 times hard enough to expel a good shot of pressure each time. If it doesn't re-seat (stops leaking) time for a new tank. Now, if you have one of the screw on caps that protects the threads and the valve from dirt, you could use that to close off the tank. The cap seals the tank completely, if the nipple "O" ring is good, so if whenever the tank is off the marker the cap is on, it will not leak down. As soon as the tank is filled, install the cap...don't take it off until ready to install the tank to the marker. Then re-install the cap when the tank is removed from the marker. Eventually it is likely the piece of trash will get dislodged and the tank will begin to function correctly again. Then again, new tanks are VERY inexpensive. -------------

don't just toss the tank or the valve. a new pin is about $2 at a proshop.

Well, I took the tank in to a proshop, explained my problem and they were
able to tell me what was wrong. They filled it to see if it would let out the CO2 and it did. Infact, the little pin inside (that keeps the CO2 from leaking) completely collapsed. There was also a valve issue too. So they advised me to take the tank back to where I pruchased it. Which I wil. Although I am tempted to just buy a new tank thats bigger. |

I took it back to the store I got it from and they gave me a new tank. Since mine was part of a package and they didn't sell 9oz tanks separatly they just gave me a 20oz one. So that worked out well. Got the new tank filled and fired away. |

I have come to the conculsion it's my gun. And this is because I killed
another CO2 tank. The only 2 things they have in common are the gun and me. And my friend (who has been playing for several years) said it looks like I'm doing everything right. So I have NO idea. The two tanks were different brands, sizes, and filled at different places. I played one-on-one yesterday and after about 2 hours (and 300 rounds fired) I went to take out the tank and it was hissing again! Not as fast as the other one but a distinct slow constant hiss. I put it back in the gun and took it out several times but it didn't help. I should mention I used it the day before with NO problem. When I got back to my friemds house (the tank was still attatched) I fired a few shots of air to see if maybe something was lodged somewhere and my gun jammed. I had to unscrew the tank to keep it from fireing. Has ANYONE heard of something like this? I'm stumped. |

with my 1st tank the valve pin stuck the first time i used it and was doing exactley what you say is going on, u sed a screwdriver and worked the pin up and down a few times and has worked every time since ------------- "FIRST THERE" a-5 16" J&J ceramic polished internals X7 low profile hopper costom painted 20 oz tank |
