I had a PT Jr.  Most unreliable gun I've ever used.  It jammed a lot, was very inaccurate, and often times it would leak.

I had a PT Extreme.  It was also quite unreliable:
  • Valve leaked
  • Ball detent let the entire magazine empty into the bottom of the holster
  • Low velocity
  • CO2 wouldn't seat properly
  • Sights were useless

I always wanted a pistol, but for a little more with the shipping costs, you could have bought a more reliable and cheaper pistol.

One of the guys had a pistol like that last time I went out, he ran out of paint in his main and pulled out the pistol, put in some co2, and all of a sudden it started leaking like crazy. It was the first time he used it and everyone around him was laughing, my friend has the non jr version of it and it didn't shoot right ever either.

I don't care if this gun is a POS, it sounds like a fun fixer-upper.

Well, test it out once you get it and give us some feedback.  Maybe they finally fixed all the issues with those.*

*Doubtful, but you never know.

If the parts are crappy I can always use the school's metal shop and mill/lathe some more and fix the air leaks w/ plumbers(sp?) tape.

You'll most likely need this list of problems I ran into with my PT Extreme and the associated solutions:*

  • Low velocity - - after-market Spyder spring kit
  • Ball detent ineffective at securing balls - - made my own from automotive rubber bumper (the kind that keep glove boxes from rattling
  • Front sight set higher than rear sight; using a proper sight picture put shots right into the ground - - removed front sight, replaced it with a flat screw and didn't use sights
  • Valve leak - - replaced cup seal and all o-rings; valve would still start leaking every two weeks or so but messing with it would provide a temporary solution
If you can get/keep it working, you should have a lot of fun with it.  Playing pistol only provides a challenge similar to, yet different from, going against semi-autos with a pump.  Pistols are also a lot easier to wield if you play in really thick cover.  (I've played in places where it's been so tight that I've slung the primary and just had the pistol in hand.)  Although it's rare (once in three years of play carrying a pistol as a spare) I did have the pistol make the difference when I ran out of CO2.

*Problems that shouldn't apply to the PT Junior not included.
