Yup... More things to spend your money on.  Each year, they seem to get more features, just not that great of features.  I dont know if theres anything huge being added to the other Ipods, besides the "touch", I just read that article, didnt go to their site.

I dont know, to me, they need a Voice/Line in recorder, FM radio, you know, minor nice things built in before I buy one.  Until then, Creative Labs for me, until I accidently break mine and get whatever the "best" mp3 player out thats in my warrenty at BB.

I'm indecisive over the iPod touch or the iPod classic. I'll probably get one of them though, as my birthday is on Sunday.

i had mine set up to automatically sync all photos from my pc, to my ipod.  a friend of mine sent me some pics he had taken of his ex gf.  my ipod became corrupt, and i am unable to remove or add content to it.  my friends ex gf is one of my then gf's best friends.  my then gf decided to steal my ipod as a prank.  she looked through pictures on said ipod.

by the time my contract is up with verizon, i would not be surprised if iphone went on all carriers. hell the razr eventually hit all of the carriers. apple would be stupid to stick with one carrier. i will never leave verizon. therefore one less iphone to be sold. and many other people like their carriers and wouldnt switch to ATT. i hate them so much.

You sir need to do more research, the iphone's web browsing is pretty fast it is when you are on Cingulars edge network that it is slow but if you need to find something out it is better than nothing.

nuclear. we arent talking about hacking an iphone.

we are talking about a different carrier offering the iphone.

also, att uses GSM frequencies. not CDMA. Therefore one can NOT hack the iphone and make it work for verizon. you can hack it and make it work on t mobile. or you are stick with ATT.

noob.

This just proves how Apple fanboys will buy anything with the logo and feel proud of themselves. The ipod is actually going BACKWARDS, and there will be a line at the Apple store to buy them. Sure, the new ipod touchscreen may have a cool interface, but it's $400 for a 16GB unit? The current generation 30 GB ipods are $250!

You don't have to buy the touch. The new 6gen ipod classic is 80gb for 250.

Not going backwards in my book.

I see they are still building HDD based ipods, and they are coming down in price, which is to be commended. But those are no longer the flagship of the ipod lineup, the touchscreens are. They are more expensive, for nearly half the capacity. Regardless of the other features, that is a big jump in overall storage.

But they aren't claiming that the touch is the new version of the ipod. The new 80gb is. The touch is simply a new alternative to the ipod we all know.

I'll die the day I spend $200+ on a friggin' MP3 player.

Hence the reason why I hate Apple. Sure, their products look really cool, but their features aren't near worth the price. Plus, the fanboy-ism drives me insane. Apple could introduce the Copy & Paste feature for text on an iMac, and it would become world-wide breaking news as if they had cured cancer.

It's not going backwards at all. What were you expecting, an HDD touchscreen iPod? Yeah, it's possible, but in order to fit the screen, HDD and a battery good enough to power them both it would be more than twice the size. Then we'd hear complaints about going backwards in size. They're making compromises to fulfill all the aspects they can without making sacrifices in overall design. Personally, I'll wait till they can increase the flash capacity so we can still have a good battery life and decent storage. I agree 16 gigs is really disapointing, but if you're at all aware of the technology and requirements, it makes sense unfortunately.

I have like 150 songs on it, which is pathetic. I was disappointed to find out that I needed Q player to add video, between that and having dial up    I have cared very little about the whole Ipod revolution. Just my .2 cents

I wasn't expecting anything. I was just saying, one of the key points that made an ipod a better choice than other mp3 players was capacity. I'd actually prefer a flash memory device over an HDD based unit, because I am clumsy, and hard drives don't like shock.

As Reifdom said, it's the matter of iProduct. I can't think of anything that Apple could've said or done at the press conference that would've had people thinking that they had done wrong.

Seriously what do you expect, anything with an lcd screen and a hard drive is pretty delicate and you should treat it that way. I bet if you would have dropped a zune it would have broken the same way so don't just say it is an apple thing.

IMO, Shuffles are the way to go. I wish they would makea 2GB Shuffles though, Mine is 80% full, and I find myself deleting things on mine to try not to fill it.

When I obtaon music I go for whole albums, not just individual songs. Whenever my friends are over we try listening to something different every time. I have a wide taste for music and so does my cousin, whose library I copied years ago, only got a thousand songs from him though. Try looking for discographies when you search for music.

Funky has more music than I do though.

My economics professor raised a valid point yesterday about this- Why does anyone need to carry around 160 Gb of music? Unless you actually DJ with an I-pod or have a bunch of movies on it there really is no reason.

I mean, I have 14378 tracks in my library at the moment, but I haven't even come close to listening to all of it. I just manically collect music. I guess some people would say that it's nice to have all that space because you'll have every song in your library whenever you want it, but for the most part, I find myself listening to probably the same 1000-1500 songs at the most, and not spending much time with other stuff.

Agreed. Despite the size of my library, I usually only listen to about 30% of it.

Seriously what do you expect, anything with an lcd screen and a hard drive is pretty delicate and you should treat it that way. I bet if you would have dropped a zune it would have broken the same way so don't just say it is an apple thing.
i dropped my zune onto concrete from about hip height and it was fine

And Ive done the same with my iPod several times, no problems. Not really a brand thing when it comes to screen durability or even HD durability.
