| I have a 98 custom and i've been playing for about 4 or 5 months with my gun just stock so I can see what I want for it (I play mostly all woodsball) and i've decided I wanted to go ahead and get me a barrel for it and i've narrowed it down between the lapco bigshot and the J&J ceramic barrel but I cant decide which one I want. Im looking for better accuracy mostly. What do yall suggest would be the better one and why? |

I say j&j because I had one for my a-5 and it self cleans. You cant go wrong. I have heard very good things about lapco bigshot barrels too. But IMO I would go with a J&J 14in just because 14 is a good length and the self cleaning .

I play with the Lapco Bigshot. Very nice barrel. I go with an 11 inch barrel to make it easier to move. A 14 inch usually goes end down in the dirt when I kneel behind a bunker, and sometimes even the 11 inch does too, but the 14 could be useful for pushing past an inflatble bunker or through some brush. Depends on what you want to do with it. You're not going to see much of a performance difference between 11" and 14".
I even have one of those 8 inch Lapco Bigshot barrels, but it's a bit too stubby for my taste. The J&J and Bigshot are both very nice barrels and you can't really go wrong with either. Get the one you like. -------------

I use both on an A5, I like them. The Bigshot I had as my 1st upgrade, it is a very forgiving barrel, it has a med-med/lg bore size -> from Otter's bore size chart it is listed with a .689 The J&J is listed as a slightly more varying size on Otter's with a .688-.691, so bore wise, they are very similar. I could try a couple of groupings with each and let you know how it turns out. I picked up the J&J because they r less expensive, around $20 less vs. the Bigshot, when I bought mine. I was also shooting walmart shelf paint

I love my JJ Ceramic. Very few breaks in it since I've been using it and when it has, it has cleaned itself out after 2-3 more shots. Both are great barrels though. ------------- Pumpker'd; (V.) No. If forced to pick, I would give a slight edge to the J&J; but I wouldn't consider it significant enough to influence a buying decision. Edited Note: There is no such thing as an accurate barrel/marker. Accuracy is a property of the user, not the marker/barrel. Markers/barrels do have varying degrees of consistency however. Consider consistency to be defined as if the marker is aimed at a certain point it will hit that point, or close, on a regular basis. Once someone practices to become accurate with their setup, the consistency determines the size of the cone of fire as it intercepts the area of the target. A smaller cone of fire is better at it increases the likelihood of a hit or hits. -------------

I've personally owned two different JnJ ceramics in the 14" and several friends have had others throughout several different versions of the barrel. Every single LAPCO barrel I've seen and owned has still impressed me. The JnJ is quieter, but on a gun like a tippmann that's going to be lound no matter what, I opt to make it sound like a cannon. The JnJ may regain accuracy slightly faster, but unless you dump a lot of paint down the pipe, you'll still need to clean either barrel. Last I knew LAPCO makes a great barrel. |
