Many of you know it already, but I've been engaged since January, and I'm 9 days away from getting married. I don't have any second thoughts, but man, is planning and paying for a wedding the most stressful thing I've EVER done. Anyone here whose married can probably tell you the same thing, but I was awake this morning at 5:30 freaking about last minute items, plans, and expenses....I'm telling you, Its killing me. Couple this with an intensive 2 month training course for NYS firefighting certification, a full time job, and other every day concerns....I'm actually going grey. Don't know why I chose to voice these issues here, but what the hell, I've posted less interesting stuff here before. Carry on.

It really can be incredibly stressful, but it's very much worth it in the end. You get to get married, and then hopefully you get a hell of a party, which you probably don't have to clean up.
I absolutely went nuts with our wedding planning, but I've never been to a better party than my reception, and 200 guests agreed. It's still the standard by which other receptions are judged in our social circle. Edit: Oh, and don't forget the saying "No strategy survives first contact with the enemy." It applies to weddings too. Just roll with it and you'll get through it. -------------

Thanks guys. I'm pretty well set for something to happen, the biggest concern I have is actually with a family member that noone cares for. I've got a seething hatred for this man, but since he's family I can't not have him come. He'll probably get drunk and offend everyone in the room, which might be fun, since I've got two NYC cops, and three military family members who might be willing to bring him out to the parking lot for me should he start trouble. Aside from him, I'm worried about stupid crap, like breaking my leg on the first dance, having my fly down at the alter, having the photographer or the DJ have a heart attack during the reception, of my fiancee coming to her senses and realizing that she's making the biggest mistake of her life.

Don't get bugged out about it, it is their day, really. They will remember every little detail, glory in it, prod you if you remember (you do remember, never forget that!) so work on making it a great day for her, and both your parents and close guests and it will end up being a great day for you too - congratulations. ------------- Imagine there’s a picture of your favourite thing here. |

You know, the thought never crossed my mind. We had a photographer lined up almost right away, the brother-in-law of one of my groomsmen is a professional photographer.

Congratulations!! Ive been married for just over a year now and have loved EVERY minute of it.
Our wedding was EXTREMELY easy to plan. As a wedding gift my mom sent us on a cruise to Hawaii. We were there for 2 days before the cruise and I figured well hell we'll just get married in Hawaii. so we did. I called a company that does weddings, I had no idea of locations so the guy told me to check out the website, so I did. I called him back and said I want Waialae beach. he said: what day/time and what package would you like, being that I was strapped for cash I said no package. I ordered two flower leis and a bouquet from them and my mom was ther for pictures and video. All in all it cost me about/less than $200 plus the marriage licenses (sp?). The day of the wedding our pastor got held up so we swtiched locations, on the way there, an accident happened and had backed up traffic for MILES so we got married on Sandy beach on Oahu, it was BEAUTIFUL! The only thing that really went sour was attempting to get a rental car, we ended up pimping a sebring convertible for the day. Thats how I roll... We rented a wrangler on Kuai IT was FUN! We did a whole lotta drivin with that thing too. We met some beach and that was fun. We drove up to the Waimea (sp?) canyon and I drove that jeep like it was a Ferarri up some of the craziest, curvey roads I have ever been on.
