I know this is tippmann not kingman but I just baught a victor to have as a spare gun for $40 and i wondered haw crappy they really are. Do these guns have any problems I should watch out for or are they pretty reliable? ------------- Laters! |

^^^ Hush you. Spyders are touchy, not unreliable. They are great considering how little they cost used. But with the added savings comes a little more care. Spyders are stacked tube, and have more parts that need to be kept clean and oiled. Also, check the sear to make sure it's not wearing down. Keep up with the Spyder and it should treat you well. I keep a check on all of my friends' spyders, and they never go down. Just keep them well oiled, and take care of it, then there will be no problems. When my one friend first got his, the gripframe screws came out, so middle of the game, the gun fell apart. It was rough finding black screws in the grass. -------------

Heh my cousin has one and he is a huge newb and he doesn't even oil his gun so He will probably ruin his gun. -------------

well the gun is mostly for if a friend is playing and doesnt have their own gear. I was thinking about putting some $$ into it and making it my designated speedball gun (which won't get used very often) but is that just a waste of time leading to certain dissapintment? If so What gun would make a decent speedballer for a reasonable price since i usually only play in the woods? ------------- Laters! |

so I used the gun for the first time and shot over my chrono to dial it in but even with the velosity all teh way up I was only getting about 188 fps (way short of what it should be). Other than that the gun worked fine any ideas on why this problem occurred? ------------- Laters! |

you're probably missing the flat washer and rod-guide that allows the RVA in the rear of the kingman markers to actually compress the spring and up the dwell of the valve leading to a better velocity. It could also be a matter of a worn-down or clipped main spring or too stiff of a valve-spring. Either way, it's an easy fix. Also, if you get a chance, pick up a couple of cup-seals for the valve. Those tend to be the culprit 99% of the time when you have a valve-leak on a spyder. Not that it has happened, but chances are, some day it will. ------------- <Removed overly wide sig. | Spyders are just too easy to work on. There's just not really much that can go wrong with them. Kind of like a Tippmann but working on a Tippmann valve is like trying to pull teeth from a Polar Bear. |

You really also could define "crappy" to get a good answer. When you say "crappy" do you mean you can't really slap a stock and sites on it very easily and have it look like an AR? I have a Victor I bought for about 15.00 at a garage sale and modded it with all stock parts + a reg. and 2 Madman springs to operate at 260 psi. Shoots like a charm. Again there's really not much that can go wrong with them.
My complaint with Spyders and Tippmanns the same. Very heavy moving internals at high pressure with massive recoil. Internals just don't need to be that heavy and big. |

They are great beginner guns or guns for outlaw play.
They are durable and you don't even need to do anything to maintain mech syders to keep them running. Not to mention, they have great value. ------------- <just say no to unnecessarily sexualized sigs> |
