Okay, before anyone complains about a repost just listen: Does anyone know how many inches of porting the 12" J&J ceramic has from it's tip? specifically the 12" For some reason I can't find the answer anywhere

I know it sounds like an unusual quetion. I was just wondering because I am trying to decide between a 12" or 14" jj ceramic barrel. I heard that a paintball needs about 8-10 inches without porting to get up to the desired velocity, then another 2-4 inches for stabilizing with or without porting. I know the 14" barrel has 10 inches w/o porting and 4 with porting. I was only wondering about the 12" |

I just took a ruler to my 12 incher,* and the porting starts 6 1/4" from the muzzle. This sounds different from what you posted, but it's an older one so things may have changed. The porting is small, so I doubt there is significant air loss. The barrel has always worked great for me. Edited Note: The overall length is actually 11 3/4". *Try to keep your minds out of the gutter. -------------

Lol, yeah I know that there is almost no difference between 12" and 14" as far as performance goes, I am just a horrible decision maker, and I'm looking for the slightest reason to lean to one or the other. I have a tippmann a-5, and tippmanns are long to begin with, but 2 inches aren't gonna make a big difference. I don't mean to re-kindle an old thread but which do you think I should go with?

| i'd personly go with the 14 inch....o ya and this is a bit off topic but i was also trying to decide between a 14 inch j&j ceramic or a Lapco big shot barrel 14 inch. Which of the 2 is better in performance? I already have a lapco but was trying to deside between lapco or J&J |

Both the J&J and the Lapco are good barrels. The J&J has advantages in that it self-cleans better and is slightly quieter. The Lapco Bigshot handles substandard paint better. (Previous statements based on personal experience.)

lapco bigshot is by far the best barrel i've ever shot through. though Mack is right when he says the J&J cleans itself better, id still go with the bigshot, as its less likely to give you trouble with barrel breaks. As good as the J&J is at self-cleaning, its still not going to be as good as just squeegeeing the barrel.

I love my JJ. It shoots well with a variety of paint and shoots through breaks like a champ.
