What was the dumbest trend/phase/whater you ever took part of in your youth.

Mine was that back when I was a freshman, I dressed kinda scene or core or whatever and was even more guilty of listening to the music (underoath, FFTL, ect.)

Edit: Or when I was in 8th grade and I believed slipknot was the greatest band ever. ugh.

I've always dressed the same way.

And with BB, yeah I partook in the Pokemon fad. Not really ashamed, I actually enjoyed it as a kid. I have since trashed all my cards, but still, it passed time for me and my friends.

Back in middle school I did what I like to call the "visor" hair style. As in, gelled hair combed straight with the edges of my hair on my forehead gelled forward almost like a baseball cap or visor.

I too was a Pokemon master in grade school, but who wasn't?

Never really got into any trends. I was either a semi-outcast and wasn't cool enough to follow any trends, or (Immdiately after) I was an athletic shorts/t-shirt person that only listened to rap and swam.

I pretty much rocked.

I've had my hair longer/shaggy for a long time, before it was "scene" or whatever its called now.

Pokemon cards.

Other than that I was far too much of a social outcast to fit in with any of the 'cool' trends. I don't think I had more than three friends until about grade 10.

Dave is right.

You will never see me wearing a Marines T-Shirt or anything stupid like that. That is how we in the Corps distinguish between "boots" and the guys that have been around a while. You don't have to wear a shirt to tell that someone is a Marine, you just know. Also around military bases it doesn't matter anyways because everyone is in the military so no body cares that you are a Marine. There is no special treatment for those in the military, don't let your recruiter lie to you.

I was somewhat of a social outcast myself in middle school since all my friends lived in other towns and I couldn't hang out with them outside of school, so I mainly roamed around in the woods, and eventually got into paintball in highschool. I was mostly a jeans and t-shirt guy myself.

^Your username reminded me of a really annoying trend at my school.

Fake rednecks. Some of you will know what I'm talking about. The kids who wear work boots and Dixie outfitter shirts everywhere they go. They also talk with a fake southern accent, drive lifted (sometimes even 2wd) trucks, and think that larry the cable guy is a god. Even more ironic they put the the confederate flag all over their trucks and talk about hating <insert  N word here> while listening to rap.

Edit: Rednekk88 I'm not directing that comment at you.

In 7th grade I dressed sorta like a 'gangster' if you where to call it. I wore my jeans low, my shirts to my knees, those white gangster shoes and a white hat.... Man I regret that. Now I'm in 10th grade and I just dress normally like jeans and a t-shirt. I don't really have any friends. I don't talk to anyone in my bus...

Brother? I was the exact same way...except after the 10th grade I was put on adderall, so I talked much much less in school, and at the same time my best friends either moved away or we just weren't able to see eachother, so for the last two years of high-school I never really had friends (in the truest sense of the word) in school. All the friends I made were made through paintball and swimming.

So? We should congratulate them for doing what they're supposed to do in the first place? Hooray, you're breathing, heres a prize!
Choopie I have to ask; are you just going out of your way to annoy Horsepower*, or are you really that prejudiced?*Which is quite understandable.

How can you NOT think rednecks are retarded?
So people who work hard for their stuff are retarded ?...I think your way off.

The real soldiers I know are glad people like you exist, since it creates an easier target for extremists and psychopaths.

i love extremists and psychopaths, its fun arguing with them.

There is no special treatment for those in the military, don't let your recruiter lie to you.

i know about being around bases and crap, and i know theres no special treatment. i just like to get extremist college kids bent on calling me a baby killer, i was with someone else in rotc when some jackass called us that, and my friend said "better watch it, your babies next on my list". so the kid flips out, and public safety comes over and tells the kid to  calm down, asked us what happened, so we said we had no idea why he was screaming at us and walked away. pretty funny, i think anyway

A teacher at school has a son in Iraq right now and i guess it was night and he saw someone walking towards their base / area with something in their hands so he ordered they shoot the person, turns out it was a 12 year old kid with a soccer ball.

Because I try to avoid making unsubstantiated/unsupported all-encompassing judgments about members of ethnic, religious, geographic, or socioeconomic groups.  To do so is a form of prejudice.

yeah ive been in the army for nearly four years now and it pretty much sucks having to follow orders from some pimply ass rotc prick, who thinks hes better than me because he went to college, like im not as smart as he is. If he was smart he would go to college to not be in the army.

i guess im a little biased. its not like i haven't had good officers, but the majority of the (smart)young ones are either to unsure of themselves to make calls they know are right, or to arrogant(and dumb) to listen to their ncos(more experienced) and make bad decisions that put people in flag drapped coffins, and most of the 0-5's and up just plain have an ego nine miles wide.
Some of the best officers arround are guys who were once enlisted and went to rotc later. even better are warrant officers.
