Had my first alcohol when I was 5 or so (sips of my dad's beer and whatnot) didn't get drunk until my freshman year of college. I was drinking regularly before then. When I turned 18, my parents gave me wine and beer with dinner. Education and learning to drink in moderation from an early age has done much more to keep me from binge drinking or getting drunk than anything MADD or other sources have done.

I think, besides my dad/mom letting me taste drinks every once in a while when I was little, the first time I ever drank anything without my parents' consent was in sixth or seventh grade with my best friend. We found a bottle of(I know now) crappy/cheap whiskey and we tried to take "shots" of it out of plastic cups and chase it with sunny-D while his parents were asleep upstairs.
I didn't drink again until halfway in my 11th grade year after a breakup, with "good" whiskey, and then a bunch of other stuff. It's kind of been a down hill slope since then.

Not until I was 20.
I barely had control of myself until then. I didn't want to mix alcohol with an already jacked up sense of self and impulsive/obsessive personality. Especially when I was depressive. When I was manic I didn't need it. Natural high, ftw(?).

freshman year is when i first got plastered, same year i found out that vodka is to be drank in moderation not splitting a 5th with a friend. sophmore year drank just beer, junior year, found out that drinking alot of jack makes me black out. senior year drank alot more on the weekends and i found out that all liquer makes me black out if i drink alot of it. recently i just drink on the weekends and dont get that messed up.
and about 2 months after i graduated i learned not to drink and drive after putting my truck in a ditch.

Thats the problem with it. It is going to cost me way too much to drink. Thats why I don't drink too much.
One advantage though, is I can drink 3/4ths a bottle and not have any hangover.

I have killed a half gallon of Captian during a game called "Higher or lower/Red or Black" it has another name but I wont post here..for those of you who know how to play it, I'm sure just like me you hate it, the game gets you plastered faster than any thing else, every time its your turn.
Theres a chance you will have to take 3 shots in a row, if your good you can stay in a buzz, but I was screwing up bad that night, and the last three cards I had I missed all three took the first two and was spinning, the guy I was playing against noticed it and said I will take the last one for you, I was so happy he did.
Well needless to say I remember EVERYTHING EveryThing We did that night, listen, everything up untill..."Dum dum dummmm" we got to my house, in which I was walking inside and the last thing I remember was bumping into the tv in the living room.. ok next day I wake up plastered still, hung over, terrible feeling but I thought I was ok, that I had came home and got away with it, "I was much younger when this happend I would say about 16-17, well as I woke up I found a note which I could tell was written by my mom, the first words were "If you Are Still Alive" We are Very concerned we know you were drinking last night, well I found out later by EVERYONE that I woke my mom up she was talking to me in the hallway infront of my room,
then I learned my Dad was Also talking to me, if you want to picture my dad picture Red Formen from that 70s show, so I was freakn that they had both talked to me and seen me in that state, when you black out from alcohal that means your really drunk, stupid drunk, and I was talking to my parents, so yes I was very embarassed,
but instead of getting into trouble my bro took his boat out that day and I went with them, so it was like it never even happend.. got home had a light talk with pops he asked how much I had to drink, I told him a few beers, whats funny about that is either he knows I was lying to his face about the few beers part, Or he thinks I can't hold my liquor...
Well I confessed what I was drinking that night to mom so either way, its in the past, but as far as getting into trouble, thats my story, and the worst part about this happening ever, as far as blacking out, is never remembering what happend, what you said, what they asked, and simply the fact you can't remember a hour or so of last night, that always sucked to have a void of time.
First time I got drunk "I believe thats the question not how much trouble you got in.."
was in 2000 first time ever, I remember getting drunk on Crown and some vodka, and my friends who didn't know jack about liquor just like me at the time, were mixing the two... well I didn't care I was getting drunk for the first time and I was enjoyn my self, I remember playing mortal combat all night till morning... so I didn't have a hang over..
boy stories like this I could go on and on forever... one time, I killed almost "Almost" a entire bottle of "Salza" tequilla and I was so sick the next day throwing up and the worst part is we were on a small island camping, and had run out of water and drinks, people were drinking water off their tents...we left early that day to get back home, everyone was so hung over...good times...
There ya go didn't mean to confuse you, but its easy to start writing such a long paragraph...

Yeah, pretty much anybody can drink themselves sick. If you keep pounding it back until you get sick you can drink a lot, but there's a reason you get sick from it.
I drink to get a nice buzz, and then I drink more slowly to stay there. I used to drink and get hammered and throw up, but that's a mistake I learned from.
There is the soft, warm, fuzzy place, and the cold, dark, scary place.
Aim for the former, avoid the latter. My friend once told me that'd he had enough to drink that he wasn't in the cold, dark, scary place, but that he see it from where he was. That's when you stop.

It may not have been for a few hours straight, but I specifically remember leaning over my neighbor's porch throwing up on and off for about a half hour to an hour. ... People don't Drink to be cool EVER, maybe the first time you ever try it people will peer pressure you into it, but people drink to get what ? a buzz, now days I drink like many here have said just a few shots, but usually when you first get into drinking its different, you party more, your more ambitious... but after you get your share of hang overs you learn to just catch a buzz, for those people who are hospitalized for alcohol poisining are what is known as alcoholics not people trying to impress other people, this isn't a rolex or new car its liquor, who don't like to drink alittle? just my opinion, but after a hard weeks work its nice to cut back on the weekends.. and chill with your friends.

That's when you stop. | Pretty much the same for me. I don't drink to get completely wasted beyond the point of functioning. I can handle my liquor pretty well for my size, so I never let myself get to the point where I need someone to take care of me. I've had to do that a few times for various people, and it sucks, so I make an effort not to put anyone else in the position.
There just comes a point when drinking isn't fun anymore, and once you pass that point, you're just ruining your night/next day for not just yourself, but your friends and others around you as well.

I have a friend like that. He can drink like a fish and it doesn't phase him. Runs in his family. I don't need much, so it's nice and cheap.
|
Thats the problem with it. It is going to cost me way too much to drink. Thats why I don't drink too much.
One advantage though, is I can drink 3/4ths a bottle and not have any hangover.
|
Whale, I'm in about the same boat. I'm not a big guy, and I didn't, and still don't really drink THAT often. But, I've always had a high tolerance. Do people ever try to say you are just trying to be a hard ass by drinking so much? Just out of curiosity. High tolerances are more often a curse than a blessing.

I would be willing to bet that 50% of the posts ending up in that thread would be by sober people.

Maybe we need one of those breathalizer devices that won't start your car if it detects alcohol, but for the forum.

First buzz- 13 First Time Drunk- 14 First time I felt paralyzed(healthy mix of booze and marijuana)- 14
I was an angry funny drunk, according to the kids I did drink with. Proud to say that I haven't had a drink (or done any drugs) in two years. After I learned that alcoholism runs in the family, I gave it up.

makes no sense Brian...
Also, I have taken a few "Shots" to seem like I was drunk, and when everyone else was so plastered they didn't know what they were saying, I'd ask them for stuff(money, cigarettes, more alcohol, "Special" attention) and alot of the times I got it. I racked up $200 one night and a couple bottles of crown just asking for $10, or asking if they have any booze they didn't want.

If he means hooking up with drunk girls, while he's sober, he's essentially walking scum.

I suggest you try it. Not too much but to lighten you up. But if you don't fell right don't do it.
Right now I am pretty drunk. I have had to choose my words, in that I wanted to spell those right. I am qouting a lot of people. But people who drink and tell they puke and you have to baby them is no fun. Even worse is people who get angry. I have puked, but never needed help with walking or anything. Maybe a bottle of water, that's about it. I have a cliche qoute but it's good.
Instant ass hole
Just add aclcohol.

is it my fault that you drank yourself retarded? No.
Getting so plastered you cant do anything correctly is something you need to at your own home, don't come out and drink yourself so lame you don't even know if your wearing pants... I also only did this to kids who thought they were "Tough <crap>" never to my own friends... I'd even spot these jackasses out from the start the whole "I'll drink you under the table then pee on you" type of people.
I never have done anything to a drunk individual, well except steal car keys, the worst thing I have done is watch 2 lady friends, never participated, or talk something up about a friend then they meet and whatever is whatever, I could careless, I'll be to busy digging a hole in someones yard or trying to get the dog drunk. Harmless thing children do, I've seen a friend get busted and thrown away 3 years for Statutory not something I would be proud of or "glamorize" about, or tell some little internet forum "heh... I'm cool, I slept with a 15 year old! Aren't I 1337?!"

14 - Drunk. I took three shots of jack, had a scotch, and drank 2 beers
Since then, I've only been drinking on very rare occasions or at large social events. Its not that I had a bad experience or anything, I just don't like being drunk as much as I like being, say, high on marijuana or opiates. Most of my family are or have been alcoholics, so coupled with my preference to not drink, I've got enough reasons to keep me away from alcohol. Recently, though, I've really been pushing my brain and body to it's limits with drugs. All summer a good friend and I were smoking huge amounts of weed and tripping on mushrooms/acid as often as we could, just waiting a few days in between for our tolerances to go down so we could actually feel the drugs the next time around. On top of all that, I had a few amazing experiences with ecstasy, but couldn't do it as often as I wanted because of the fragile emotional state it drops you off in.
Now the only drugs I'm putting in myself are amphetamine (just very low doses to help with focus and keep me awake during the day) and occasionally painkillers or weed. It's been a decent amount of time since the crazy psychedelic binge of the summer, though, and as winter rolls around we'll probably jump right back in to see how far we can go.
