The biggest paintball event in the world is 8+ months away. It takes place June 7-15, 2008. But things are starting to get organized now. The summer staff meeting is finished. New plans are underway for the field and the game. The Allies are working hard to repeat their resounding victory from last year.

If you're not familar with the event, check out this video link.
http://youtube.com/watch?v=6t3jP0ni3qE - http://youtube.com/watch?v=6t3jP0ni3qE

40 tanks, planes, and command vehicles. Flame throwers and anti-tank weapons, Over 4000 players on a huge 750 acre facility (plus new acreage added for 2008). Actual water borne landing craft, villages, woods, creeks and ponds. Military tactics training courses available including Small Unit Tactics and Leadership (SUTAL), Sniper training, and an Advanced Airborne Assault course. The courses are fun, tactical and everyone learns a lot. The SUTAL is taught by a professional tactical training organizational and is open only to Allied players.

If you're thinking of coming, consider the 82nd Airborne. It's not for everyone.

The 82nd Airborne and the 82nd Pathfinders are getting ready for 2008. We’ll have a great core of players and leaders back from past years, but we’re looking for people and teams with the physical stamina, honor, drive, and determination to fill our unit. The 82nd and its Pathfinders drop behind German lines and fight their way to link up with the Allied forces.

We'll often be cutoff, surrounded, outnumbered, or fighting German forces supported with armor and heavy weapons. We’ll be the “Tip of the Spear” for American and Allied forces from one end of the 750 care field to the other. You’ll need to move quickly and stealthily over the toughest terrain on the field, and then attack defended positions with “violence of action”.

The German Army will task their best units to stop the 82nd. You’ll need to work effectively as a member of a larger team, think on your feet, react quickly, and lead other elements as the situation develops.

In 2008 the 82nd Airborne will be given it’s most difficult assignment yet. It will have to move farther and faster, over some of the toughest terrain any Division at D-day has yet encountered. To be an effective part of this unit you should be in good physical condition. You will cover a lot of tough terrain and see a lot of intense paintball. If you’re up for it, we want you!

The real 82nd Airborne has a proud and honorable traditional since it’s creation, including dropping in Normandy in June 6, 1944, and in every major conflict the United States has been involved in since then. Elements of the actual 82nd Airborne Division are currently deployed in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The 82nd Airborne in the Oklahoma D-day event also has a proud and honorable tradition, and every year the core of returning players increases. But we always have room for new players and teams. We welcome every experience level and type of player.

The actual 82nd is known as the All-American Division because when it was first formed it had members from every state. The 82nd at Oklahoma D-day is similar in many ways. If you’re looking for a well organized and well disciplined unit to enhance your fun at Oklahoma D-day then consider the 82nd. We’ll cover more ground, be involved in more battles and objectives than any other unit on the field.

This is a link that shows some of the preparation and organization that goes into the Allied side.

  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K7lF7dqHCrE - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K7lF7dqHCrE

You'll see the Allied TOC, training, the detail of some of the Armor, etc. It's amazing what goes on at D-day during the week.

If this sounds like your idea of how paintball should be played, if you’d like to be part of this winning tradition contact me at srisken623@aol.com or just register now at http://thebunkerextreme.masterlink....p/?idCategory=42 - http://thebunkerextreme.masterlink....p?idCategory=42

News Release!

From tie to time, as issues warrant, you'll
find new posts concerning this event.

1. The Bunker staff have posted a notice on
the forum inviting people to sign up for the
new Smith Productions 2007 Oklahoma DVD. This
will be the last time this firm does a video
of this event, so make sure you grab your piece
of history soon.

2. As Gen Risken has already noted, the Allies
are seeking to recruit new players. Some of our
units find they get a lot of return players, but
there's always room for more, especially since
they've just announced the addition of 30 more
acres to the field. We are expecting the cap
for 2007 will be raised to 4,500 and of that we
will probably come away with 2,500 or more. Also,
some units have age restrictions, but generally
most have openings for players of all age and
skill levels. Even if you perfer not to play,
but you'd still like to be a part of the world's
largest paintball event, we've got positions you
can fill, including drivers, logistics support
staff, camera operators and radio operators.

3. In 2008 both sides commands are encouraging
players to show up in period costume. Some may
even wish to play in costume, but that's not a
requirement. We also welcome those who are into
staging WWII re-enactments, as well as anyone who
owns a period vehicle to also come and show off
what you do or have. Our goal here to to make
sure that people, especially younger ones never
forget what our fathers and grandfathers did to
insure the freedoms we all have today.

Sincerely,

BG Andrew Van Der Plaats
Commander of the OSS (Office of Strategic Services)

Panda Man - There's lots of other great Allied units. The 82nd isn't for everyone. I don't know your style of play or nthing else. The 82nd covers a lot of ground - fast - and requires being in reasonably good shape. It's an assault force for sure. But there are lots of other choices for the Allies. I hope you can make it.

Just a little note pulled from the official 82nd Airborne website about LGOPs. Expect 2008 to be very different than 2007. We may very well be LGOPs spread over much of the field, or certain parts of the field. If you can turn this attitude into a paintball event, than the 82nd is your kind of unit!

Just three of the better than 4,000 reasons why you
need to join us for D-Day.   No other field offers as
much as this one does. Come and play a part in another
allied victory!

Registration packets have started being mailed out. If you are an Allied player your card will come with a letter with the email address of your CO. Please contact them (or me if you're 82nd Airborne - mailto:srisken623@aol.com - srisken623@aol.com ) asap and let them know you're part of their unit. Thanks

Just an FYI - The Allies have a new forum to help it players meet each other, ask and answer questions, and just learn about D-day. It's intended for Allied players only, but is open and unsecured. You can view it at http://ddayallies.8.forumer.com/ - http://ddayallies.8.forumer.com

If you're an Oklahoma D-day player at least come by and introduce yourself!

For some folks, especially those who have
never been to D-Day, one of the issues we
constantly have to deal with is how do I
sign up for a unit? If that's you here's
a simple solution, just select the Allied
Command unit you wish to join and click
the link. You'll be instantly taken to
a secure website page where you can fill
in the blanks and sign up. Now let's not
hear anymore about I wanted to come but I
couldn't figure out how to get registered.

If you have any additional questions, or on the chance you happen to be planning on
bringing a 'tank' to the event please let me know as again there are special rules which
govern how those need to be registered.

As the event continues to expand, the need for supporting staff becomes more important for each side and the Bunker. This year the Allies are looking for people to help in a number of areas, particularly for Saturday's main event. It could be as help in our TOC (Tactical Operations Center), help with orientation, as drivers, general support functions, possibly even gunners in vehicles. The list is almost endless.

There are a couple of requirements for these positions. You have to be a registered player and you have to attend orientation.

But this could provide the perfect opportunity for people who want to be involved with the largest paintball event in the world but can't take part on the field. Last year we had a guy in our TOC with a cast on his leg (I wish I knew his name) who was a huge help. He planned on playing, but due to the injury he just couldn't. He ended up making a huge contribution in the TOC and having a good time.

So this could be the perfect spot if your injured, in a wheelchair, disabled, or just don't feel comfortable taking the field for any reason. It would be perfect for the parent, sibling or friend of a player who wants to be involved but can't play. We'll have all kinds of opportunities and want to extend the offer to those who are interested.

Contact me if you're interested and we'll find the perfect spot for you. mailto:srisken623@aol.com - srisken623@aol.com

The message is simple. Time's short. You need to pick your unit and register.

If you are the type of player who likes to be handed the tough mission, if you like being dropped behind enemy lines and cut off from the rest of your forces, if you can handle the confusion and stress of an Airborne drop, if you want to face the best the Germans have to offer, if you're able to think on your feet, adapt to a changing situation and still accomplish the mission, if you can do all this the 82nd Airborne or 82nd Pathfinders is for you.

But don't wait so long the choice is taken out of your hands.

Unit registration is open until April 15. If you haven't registered, do it now. If you have registered, get your friend, teammate or relative to register. The 82nd Pathfinders are full, the 82nd isn't much farther behind.

1) If you've registered I need to hear from you if want to be with certain people or in a certain Regiment.  mailto:srisken623@aol.com - srisken623@aol.com
2) Join the Allied Forum if you haven't done so yet.  http://ddayallies.8.forumer.com/ - http://ddayallies.8.forumer.com/

3) Fill out the Allied questionnaire. It only takes a minute and it's a big help in getting us organized.  http://ddayallies.8.forumer.com/viewtopic.php?t=239 - http://ddayallies.8.forumer.com/viewtopic.php?t=239

4) Sign up and register for a SUTAL course. We're using SUTAL and the mini games as part of our training regiment. So when you're signing up for SUTAL be sure it's opposite the mini game schedule. The mini games are in the afternoon on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and in the morning on Thursday.   http://www.1shepherd.com/schedule/default.aspx - http://www.1shepherd.com/schedule/default.aspx

The days when you could sign up and be 100% sure you'd be placed with the unit you picked are over, but there's still time to register for the world's largest paintball event, the 11th Annual Oklahoma D-Day event.

You've got till MAY 15th to sign up for the discounted price of 75.00. That's also the last day you'll be able to 'request' the unit of your choice. Starting on May 16th the entry fee jumps up to $100.00 and they begin putting you where THEY want you. Don't let this chance slip through your fingers, call the Bunker and get signed up now!
