Does anyone know why an A-5 flatline won't go on a prolite???

Shouldn't be an issue. Same threads.

An A-5 Flatline uses or incorporates the adaptor into the barrel.
This means 'NO' threads.

So no, it wont fit, sorry.

yes, but the adapter itself is threaded isn't it?

The stock adapter (with carbine threads) that comes with the A5 is threaded.  However, this piece has to be removed to install the A5 Flatline (F/L)  The base of the A5 F/L is shaped to go into the body with the adapter removed.  If you have an A5 handy, loosen the body screws and remove the adapter.  A quick look at this point will demonstrate why you can't put an A5 F/L on a prolite.
