| I've decided to use a remote for my HPA tank. Do most people use waist type carriers or vests? I don't play scenarios or need to carry all the gear a vest would carry, but they appear more stable than a waist pack. Any thoughts? |

A lot of people use a +1 harness when running remote.

| I use the Flurry speedball harness. It's set up so you can use a vert. tank. My 68/4500 fits well. The harness also has room for a hydration bladder. I NEVER use my Flurry vest any more. |

Vest=More surfaces to break vs bounce

Most speedball type people perfer harness' rather than vests overall. Since all of my markers are set up to be run with a remote, I like a vest. I had a 4+1 pack that I didn't like, because my tank would constantly bounce around (even with they wider speedball style belt and shoulder straps). Now I have a PCS vest that has a 5+6 vert setup for pods (five regular speedball-style pod holders and 6 extra ones designed to be a paint mule at scenarios) with one horizontal setup for tanks. I love the thing so much, because I barely feel anything hanging on me(unlike my pod pack), and I can carry anything. Plus, like tallen said, from the front you cant see my pods at all, and I'm skinny! If I had a marker designed to run off a tank directly in the ASA, I would probably just use a dye pod pack or something, just because its less stuff to carry. Unless I was at a scenario. I like my vest alot, and I wouldn't trade it for anything. If you like pod packs, thats great, but I like what I have. -------------

SSOK basically nailed it. I'm a speedball player (yes, even in the woods and as scenarios) so I always go for bounceability and low-profile. Where this hurts me is when I'm dumping 1,000 rounds in 15min at a scenario and next thing I know, I need more paint. Vests with lots of pod holders and other compartments are great for scenario, but in every-day play, I prefer my old slam-pack.
The last speedball guy I ever saw wear a full harness (shoulder straps and all) was Gary Noblette. Dude was nothing more than a machine-gun. Best back-man you could hope for, of course, getting him to run anywhere quickly or finding a bunker big enough for him to hide behind was a bit tricky.

Ironic part is, I dont use much paint at all. I go through roughly 600 rounds on one rec day. With my old harness, My tank pulled it down in the back, and it constantly was bounceing. With my current vest, my tank doesnt move at all, and I dont feel it weighing me down a bit. Finding a good bunker isn't too hard for me, because I'm a small guy to begin with. If I didnt run with a remote I would probably have a pod-pack though. What you DONT want in a vest is a bladder holder, a bajillion grenade pouches, and a pistol. You dont need any of those unless you're at a huge scenario -------------

That's not really an acurate statement. I found that is personal preference. They both have their pro's and cons. For vests, pros- you can carry on you extra gear such as Hydration system, Maps, Radios, Rag, Squeege and what ever you want to put on the pouces. They also hold your pods and airsource close to you so avoid the saggy harness and that tell tale noice someone running with a Harness with pods makes. The Same Noice that gave away Tallen's dash for a bunker wich lead to him being pinned down and eliminated by myself and Picasso last weekend. Cons- Vest tend to retain heat. Vests also can be overkill for someone who's playing recreational or tournament balls where it just becomes dead weight. -------------

I wouldn't have been eliminated if my Reloader B had been set to the proper sensitivity and speed. 
I spent half the time rip-driving the sucker just to get 5 shots off at you EE. Besides, you don't get to say crap as I shot you in the back while you were running away a few games earlier, and that was NOT a tactical retreat there bub!
I think however, no matter what kind of system you are wearing, you're going to get the tube jostle if you don't have the rounds packed in tight. ------------- <Removed overly wide sig. Tsk, you know better.> |

Thanks for the replies. I ordered a Gen X vest but it hasn't come in yet. I know the vest is overkill for my rec ball self, but I like the idea of the tank stabillity, a little protection, and abillity to carry wallet, keys, cell. Besides,for $40 if I don't like it, I'll give it to one of my kids. Now, let's say I find the vest too bulky, hot, or whatever. What is the most stable waist pack on the market that can carry a 68/4500 tank? |

NXE makes some nice 2+1+2s that are nice and stable. Redz also makes some good remote-setup packs that are very stable and comfortable. The nice thing about both is that they use elastic/lycra pockets for the tanks, so they can accommodate almost any size hpa tank you want to throw in there. ------------- <Removed overly wide sig. I have a rap4 vest and love it. It has belt hooks to help make sure it stays in place and I had th eproblem of the tank pulling down my pack when I uses a 4+1. The vest has a spot for my tank right on top and you can get a holder for just about any size tank too. I got the medium and it holds my 91/4500 just fine. I do mostly scenario/woodsball though so if you are going speedball I can understand going with a pack. ------------- Stay low, run fast, and hope that paintball doesn't hit your... http://www.deltasquad.info/">
