well i was wondering if the vibe is better than the ion, they are both low end smartparts, but the vibe is newer but cheaper. as well, is the epiphany or the eos better.

Now how are we supposed to know that? They aren't even out yet, just preorders...
Not to mention, SP sucks. If you really want an SP gun, get used so you don't have to support their filth.

The vibe is just the old impulse tech packaged in plastic. It's a l-o-p spool-valve with no lpr, it's blind, and has a max rate of 11bps. It's a POS. If you chop a round (and 180psi forward pressure WILL chop) then you're going to jam the bolt forward and that is a PITA, just ask any classic-mag owner.
It's an imp, they're just not charging exorbitant prices for what is essentially 10 year old tech anymore.
The Eos is just the old HE Matrix top-hat mod trick done up professionally in a lpr-regulated imp/shocker format.

Nope, not really. The new big-boys on the block (SP, DYE, et al) have all realized what many others already knew. It's not the $1,000 paintball marker that makes you money, it's the dirt-cheap one that you sell to the stupid suv-driving trophy wife of a soccer mom. THEN you sell them the $1,000 marker down the road.

Snake, normally I'd agree with that sentiment, but I actually like some of their markers. I'm toying with the idea of picking up an SFT (what a joke...) Shocker, or an old PL Vision Impy to screw around with.

A friend of mine has an SP ion, and he loves it. I have never played with one but his seems fine. Why are they so detested?

It's not so much as we hate Ions as it is we hate Smart Parts. They're nazis that are trying to monopolize the paintball market, their business ethics are nonexistant and they put a lot of good companies out of business.
SP =

I don't have a problem with a company being competitive, but I don't think some of the patents that SP strong arms companies into paying royalties on would stand up in court, or go against the reasoning behind patents.
I also do not like Smart Parts because they make mediocre products, but have huge name recognition among players, so there is a large number of people who think they are the greatest thing to ever exist.

The pain, the pain...
Told you. I was gonna mention the superiority complex most Ion owners have, but figured that would be too much of a generalization.
A good example:
Me (upon hearing a kid is a paintballer): Man, I've got this plan to make my 98c [back when I used it] awesome!
Him: C'mon, it's a 98. It won't be that great...
Me: Sure it will. Did you know it can be E-Bolted?
Him: Huh?
Me: That's where it replaces the hammer with a pneumatic ram. I can drop a Matrix board in there, 2-way the ram, install eyes and centerfeed it!
Him: Still, it's a 98. It won't be as good as mine.
Me: Er, well, what do you shoot?
Him (with an aura of superiority): I've got an Ion. It's got a QEV.
Me: /facepalm

Ontario, canada. just start setting up seminars in every city explaining everything about why sp sucks/is lesser than cockers and pretty much any other gun. lol my friend is in the reserve and his regiment has challenged me to play. i figure there gonna be good, but they all have done up x7s and think that its the most accurate and strong gun(how can a gun be a strong gun?) and that cockers are old and dead. hehe, one had the balls to say that they could take on any Canadian pro paintball team. anyone got the number of Edmonton impact?

Yeah, ontario is mostly woodsball.
I don't have a speedball field for like an hour.

Doesn't mean you can't play speedball in the woods Carl People love it when you hit the 50 off the break and then start bunkering everyone who is creeping forward on their bellies.

Or just run the same way they are at first and go around the field come up behind them all and either barrel tap then or hit them from behind. If you use the cocker most of them prolly wont even know you are behind them since they are so quiet.

From what I've seen of ions theyre pretty durable (but theyre SP) and I dont like the new guns that most companies are making because they dont work well under less than great conditions (+40 or -20 celsius) or when it starts raining. I think the ion is probably still going to be the best option because theyre so common and are decently built guns that are pretty good but are getting old so maybe i'm wrong.

Ions are fine. The owners are not, with the exception of a very select few.
I have used a bone stock Ion before, and while I don't like how it shoots in comparison to other guns it is a damn fine little gun for $200 or whatever they go for now. The Epiphany was a lolsy failure because SP didn't think we consumers were smart enough to know it was a glorified Ion with an ugly body kit, and from the looks of things the EOS will be a similar situation. The Vibe would be ok for the super low-budget crowd, but it doesn't have eyes and like tallen said, chops with that thing will be a nightmare.

People around you actually shoot the paint they have for thier smg's? most people I know just hoard it so they can say they have paint for it.
I just stick to bunkering twibs with ions with my buzzard, and then they slit thier wrists because its a pump, super easy way to get rid of a pain in the ass.

Ghillie, there's a probably new run of .62Cal paint coming up, there's been a lot of trade on e-bay as well recently. I've even seen some of the other rarer calibers up for sale recently. This time of year, people will sell off their hoard to finance new acquisitions.
