Why hello! I got a Dye Throttle for my 98C as it was on sale for as cheap as a PMI (Dont dis the throttle, Ive heard ALL of that crap), and my tank adapter is broken, so I found a good deal on a Hybrid Push button on/off ASA and a rail.

I managed to get off my stock ASA, with the help of a wrench, a vice grip, and someone twice the size of me. Dont worry, Im SURE I didnt break the hose. Nothing is broken so shh! It did take me 20 minutes to remove the sealant in there, though. Eww..

Anyway, I wrapped one roll-around of teflon tape around the threads of the hose -- towards the left (that means I wrapped it once).
I only screwed it in until I couldnt do it anymore with just my hand and a wrench keep the hose in place. Not very far, there was still some hose showing, but I didnt think it was necessary for ALL of the hose to get in.
Sadly it leaked from the hose/asa connection when I turned it on. Im going to the pb place tomorrow, but Id rather do it myself if I can.

Im not a plumber, I probably did it wrong. Should I be putting on more teflon tape? Should I have locktite? Should I really try to screw it in further? I wanted to ask because Im testing it using co2 and I dont want to freeze and break an oring in my NEW asa, as that would suck... and of course you're a bit more welcoming then my local store. I hate them. A lot. Serious. : )

you should only need one layer or so of teflon tape all around the hose connection.  Did you make sure you did not cross thread and that the threads lined up properly.  Also how much did you tighten it already?

Nah I didnt cross the threads, I  made doubly sure, unscrew it, screw it, etc etc. but I tightened it a good amount, until it really gave me a hard time. I screwed it in one more time so it was nice and airtight, but it leaked.

Id say about 3 or 4 thread lines of the hose threads were visible? About that or so.

I tried the whole process again and it still leaked. Hmm scary Id hate to break it but Ive been waiting for a long long time to use this.

I always attach the ASA to the marker and then use the handle of the marker to hold onto to give me leverage when installing the hose. You want to get that sucker in there good and tight, so use a wrench, not just your hand.

Thanks for the help but I screwed it in until I couldnt possibly anymore, so Ill just go to the pb store. If they dont help, which is quite probable, Ill be taking it to my house-building neighbor...

did you put the teflon tape on before screwing it in?  You want to make sure the threads have it around them from the bottom up.

Yeppers, I really dont know what could be wrong... Could wrapping it in teflon tape like 5 times do any harm, because Im desperate...

Nah, forget it, Im obviously too retarded to do this so we'll see what happens at the pb store and I shall report BACK.

you can try 2 layers.  It cant hurt and if it works it works.

if all else fails, blue loc-tite on the threads and then screwing it in and letting it sit unused for 24hrs will do the trick.

Aye thanks but the ole pb store fixed it. It actually was the oring inside the asa, it looked like a dog chewed it. Though it was leaking from the asa/hose the first time I tried it, I froze everything up with my co2 doing so, so I probably THEN broke the oring.

I was going to resort to locktite if everything else did fail though.
