Mine is sitting in my basement waiting to be reassembled. We've had an artificial tree for awhile now.

We put our Artificial tree up about 3 weeks ago. Mainly because they bought a new one and had no space in the Garage to store it.

I really hope our fake tree "accidentally" catches fire this year so we can go out and get a Noble fir. The plastic tree should be going up in a week or so.

My dad has had a fake tree for as long as I can remember.

My mom/step-dad always get a HUGE tree for the big room in their house that no-one uses.

Fake trees mean you dont have to buy a new one every year or go chop one down, and they dont leave pine needles and a funny smell in your house.

We have gone cheap and have had a fake tree for awhile now. Got it out of the attic yesterday along with all the decorations. We are hosting christmas eve with the whole family this year so my mom wants us to get it all up soon so we aren't waiting till the last minute.

Man the smell of a pine tree is the best part of having a real tree. Our's is in a bucket of water in the garage right now, I love walking down and getting a big wiff of that pine smell, reminds me of Christmas so much.

I'd prefer to just put up our fake tree.

I have a feeling my better half will overrule and want a real one. She pays the mortgage... so I have no choice but to let her win.

It's not that I mind the mess of pine needles in the house and all over the inside of the van... cleaning that up isn't so bad.   I view it from the same perspective as to why I don't buy my wife flowers. Why pay so much $ for something that's been cut and will die within X period of time?

I don't like the thought of spending $50 on a dead tree year after year.
If I want to spend $50 on a dead tree, I'd rather it be processed into a stack of paper with pictures of boobies and guns.

Make a mess ? Bah, just take a vacuum over the needles.

Posted By: sporx
Date Posted: 25 November 2007 at 10:02pm
^the needles get stuck down into the carpet.

I've never had a real tree. I grew up with fake trees. Putting the tree together is like a family tradition and creating an assembly line for the branches and ordaments. (I hate messing with the stupid lights) The smell of pine doesn't give off that christmas feeling for. The smell of pine reminds me of summer because I have a crap load of them behind my house. The smell of cinnamon and spices takes me to christmas memories almost instantly.

Artificial tree for us, and it was set up this past weekend.

We go artificial for the lack of mess and because the animals mess with it less than they do a real tree.

I will stick with my artificial tree.  A couple of years ago we went out and got a real tree and it was fun to actually cut down your own tree.  Everything else sucked in my opinion.  Getting the thing into your house, cleaning up all the needles then eventually trying to get it back out of the house.  I just like the simplicity of the fake ones.

We usually buy a tree, and usually wait for it to actually be December to get one; at least 2 weeks in so the thing isn't rotted by Christmas.

We've always used an artificial tree, but still, my cat used to always climb it and lay in the branches.

They still try to do that, but there is less clawing, dragging, and tipping over with a fake tree. Pine seems to drive them nuts. And the pig love to tip over plants and the tree, just to see what falls out.

All that adds up to less screaming on my part. Big plus.

Actually, I don't mind at all. I'll be with some of my extended family in one of my favorite places to be in the world. Not having to get sap and pine needles in my car and house and have to water a dead tree is fine with me.
