Muhammed is not their god. It's Allah. Ignorance leads to more ignorance, and don't forget the changes that were made in favor of Christians before you go off on Muslims. I'm against any laws against insulting any person or idea, but it's their law and they choose to enforce it. It's still pretty ridiculous that they interpreted it as an insult and that the woman is to be punished. -------------

1- Mohamed is the name of the Prophet not their god they refer to their god as Allah. They also consider Jesus a lesser prophet. 2- In their religion like in Cristianity Blasphemy is a serrious offence. Now onto my opinion. I think this is just an example why the Hardcore Clerics are holding the Islamic world in the stone age. These kinds of actions go long ways to the steroetypes of Savages and other Negative Islamic influences. I see that that the Us and Westerns Islamic groups put forth condemnations but as usual no follow up action. If I was Britan I'd drop one Bomb per Lashing. -------------

Islam takes the prohibition against idolatry seriously. A side effect of that (as I understand it) is ANY depiction of Muhammed, whether or not intended as an "idol" is sacrilege of the highest order. By naming the teddy "Muhammed", it just became an idol, and major sacrilege. Terrorism is (sadly) in the eye of the beholder. I bet you don't see the (newsworthy) Blackwater contractors as terrorists, even with their random shootings of civilians (Kristofer seems to agree that it's legal). I bet you don't see that Catholic/Protestant terrorism against each other was a huge deal back in the 90's. I bet you don't see the groups of Africans (in Africa, obviously) who run around killing people of different sects/religions/political beliefs as terrorists either. I'm just getting started with it. A terrorist is someone who attacks for shock value to intimidate a certain group of people. They're all over this world and not all of them are Muslims. Pull your head out of your ass. -------------

This is so absurd, but I have to look at the other side of this. She knew the laws, and chose not to observe them. I don't see how 40 lashes is fitting, but that is the law and if she simply said something about it to her class, this wouldn't have happened. It could have easily been avoided. The same can be said for people who get tickets for not wearing their seat belts. Yes, I think that people should have the choice and as such I can't agree with that particular law, but I can't sympathize for those who get caught because they know the rules and have chosen to ignore them. No excuse is above an obvious and simply followed law. -------------

Please tell me then, how an overwhelming majority of Islamic extremists(not all Muslims) are Shi'a, and more specifically Kharijiite? They've been a persecuted minority in the Muslim world since 656 AD, and for the most part, have diverged from Islam in all but the most basic beliefs. They go against what the Quoran and the prophet Mohammed teach. You do know that the Quoran is almost identical to the Bible don't you? Seeing as I have read nearly all of both, and have plenty of knowledge on both the religious and non-religious histories of the entire ANE(if in fact, you could actually seperate them at all). The earlier halves of all three texts in the 3 major religions have violent messages, and then express the transitions to softer times. In the Islamic/Muslim religions, these messages came from Mohammed, in Christianity, Jesus, and in Judaism, a refined view of their own beliefs. In the case of these extremists however, they left the Muslim faith to follow Ali, who they believe to be the 1st Imam. They feel that the rightful leader of their religion is a blood-descendant of the 3rd Caliph Uthman. Even though Mohammed preached that from that point on, the Caliph should be chosen soley on religious knowledge, and should not be a political/military leader. Ha, and now reading your response, you obviously do NOT understand the worlds issues. The "president" of Iran does not believe he is the 12th Imam, he believes IN the 12th Imam being in hiding.
