look at some i posted... With Faith or Flames, Becoming The Archetype and Mortal Treason are christian bands to add on top of that. Since you started this thread Da Hui I officially have you on my S-list, Now death metal happens to be my favorite genre. To all you who say ignore the lyrics then you ARE listening to it for the wrong reason. The lyrics usually depict a kind of musical horror movie in your mind (If you know what they're saying)and I find it quite amazing. They sing about everything from epic Viking battles, to a psycho path dismembering a virgin, but of course there is the occasional anti-religious band. Bringing up my second point the music IS insane and to say Lamb of God is mediocre and can be easily replaced is like saying a Ferrari could easily be replaced my a Honda civic. Lamb of God has technical catchy riffs a lead singer who has a different style then the ol' "death grunt" and one insane drummer who's double bass is so different that a straight double bass line. Agreeing New American Gospel and As the Palaces Burn were not the greatest they have overcome that and their latest albums are extremely musically talented. One of my favorite bands, Cannibal Corpse has one of the most insane bassists I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. Alex Webster writes and composes most of their songs while being just the bass player. He uses his fingers rather than a pick to play (In metal that is extremely hard) and his bass lines are crazy insane. Admitingly, not all Death metal is extremely technical or even good but there is a special breed who can make amazingly catchy anthems such as Amon Amarth (who I'm seeing Saturday) who have some very simple guitar/bass/drum work but sing about things such as viking battles and the long trek's through a Nord winter and the music helps energize the message which pumps me up and making them one of my favorite bands. If you want to further debate why you think death metal is "the worst genre ever" PM me. As I feel this is just some ploy for Da Hui to be accepted by the majority of this forum who listen to Ska/Indie/Punk who dislike metal. EDIT

Whaaat? Screamo is absolutely terrible indeed, and mainstream death metal sucks too. It's just repetitive riffs and some loser roaring into a mic, but dont include Children Of Bodom, Opeth, and their likes in that generalization. They have more than lame power chords in their writing.

Firstly, Anarchy, expect a longer reply when I am fresh in the morning. Secondly, I don't understand how anybody could enjoy this.  While I can admit most of the music is very technical, and skilled. The lyrics and overall attitude of these bands are disgusting. You said so yourself "a psychopath dismembering a virgin". There is nothing enjoyable about that. Now stuff like Amon Amarth ect. Ohhh boy.... Wellllll....If you watch even ONE interview with any of the band members they are usually laughing and have no real BAMF ego about them. I do enjoy the lyrics I'm not going to lie, I find it to be just like a horror movie but you have to visualize it/ imagine it as most of what they say they could not even put into a movie. I understand the "attitude" you speak of as it can EASILY come off wrong, but in the numerous bands/musicians I have met every single one of them have been fun loving and mostly married with a family type guys. (I have met Children of Bodom, Lamb of God, Nile, Enforsaken, Cannibal corpse, and various local bands.) I will also bring up this point, they sing about death, destruction, pillaging, religion and other things on the darker side do you really think they would have some High School Musical innocence about them? I agree, however it seems that genres seem to be of very little help. This is at least the case for the music I listen to. For instance, one screamo band will sound nothing like another, and one indie band will follow suit. I just find it much easier to relate by naming a similar band, if possible, instead of a genre. ------------- |

I listen to some stuff I guess you could classify as screamo im not sure. Bands like bullet for my valentine, avenged sevenfold (their early albums), killswitch engaged, but their is some stuff out their that I cannot stand. I have seen several interviews with some of the Guys from Cannible Corpse. I don't expect them to sound like High School Musical (LOLage). I just cant understand whats so good about listening to uber fast music with men grunting about dismembering someone. I guess I should have specified I hate the more "brutal" death metal and not necessarily Melodic Death. For Example, At The Gates. One of my favorite bands. I also really love Arch Enemy (Angela Gossow is incredible), Amon Amarth is another kickass band. Its the more gore influenced stuff that I can't stand. And I don't consider COB death metal. They are another highly talented band. Just look at the cd Something Wild. -------------
