I'm just curious if anyone else here has dabbled in classic science fiction... I just finished reading Isaac Asimov's Foundation series; some pretty cool philosophical undertones in there. Anyone else read these? I don't want to get too much into waxing philosophical if noone else knows what I'm talking about...

Yup, he actually said that.

I've read a few short stories and excerpts a long time ago. I'm more of a fan of Vonnegut-style science fiction.

Haven't read those yet, although they do tie in to the Foundation series in the last Foundation book.

I read some a long time back, but I don't think they have aged as well as some of his contemporaries, like Heinlein or Clark.  Clearly a pioneer in the field, however.  He is constantly being copied these days.

There is some decent modern philosophical Sci-Fi out there too (none of which I can recall at the moment, of course).

The only Clark I've got on my shelf is 2001.

Heinlein though...

I used to read Asimov, but then I realized I was not really impressed with anything I was reading. I thought it was OK.

I am starting to get into Vonnegut's more 'out-there' style books.

Only a few short stories, not bad.
