Watched it at midnight, I was completely unimpressed.

The CG effects are so obvious it ruins the movie.

Wow, pretty awesome movie.  I felt the ending was kind of rushed, plus not all the questions were answered which makes me feel they might have left it open for a sequel.

Plan on seeing it at some point this weekend, I have been wanting to go see
a movie a lot lately but I have no gas in my truck so I have no way to get
there. But this weekend my parents get paid and my dad is getting some
extra money for shooting some pics for the New York Times, so they should
be more willing to lend me money this weekend.

I am legend is a re-make of the Charleston Heston movie "omega man." It followed that movie pretty well, so i doubt their will be a sequel. But knowing how movies go now a days, it wont surprise me if they do make a sequel.

I just got back from seeing it.

I thought it was very good.  Will Smith's character does a nice job of capturing the mental instability of the last man on earth.

Wrong.

I Am Legend is a novella by Richard Matheson published in 1954 which chronicles the year-to-year struggles of the sole human survivor of a bacterial pandemic that descended on mankind some time in the mid 1900's. The story takes place in a Southern California suburb and those infected with the disease take on vampire-like characteristics. There are two types of infected, the truly dead that have been re-animated by the bacterium and the living who's symptoms mirror the "undead" victims. The main character is a factory worker who hypothesizes that he has survived due to the fact that he was bitten by a vampire bat in Panama during his service in WWII. He spends his days repairing the fortifications to his house that the vampires attempt to break down every night and killing whatever plague victims he can find once the main task of fortification is complete. Eventually it is learned that some of the plague victims who are not undead have found a way to combat the symptoms of the plague and eventually capture the main character (Neville) as they find him to be a danger to their attempts to re-build society as infected individuals.

Omega Man drew upon the story for some minor basis of influence, but Matheson did not give any direction or input on the story-line for that particular movie and has distanced himself and his novella from it. The correlations between "Omega Man" and the book are few and far between.

"I Am Legend (2007)" is rather a modernization of the 1964 film "The Last Man on Earth" starring the great Vincent Price. Matheson wrote the screenplay for "The Last Man on Earth" himself. While there were several re-writes in the script, the synopsis follows the story better than any other attempt thus far to capture the book on film.

amazing.
the CGI was good, notice how all of the complaints are "I heard from a friend".  The plot was good, but the end left me asking questions.  It left possibilities.  And damn is smith still jacked

so im partly right. Its a re-make of the book, "the last man on earth" then Omega man.

The movie gets a big "meh" from me.

The drama in the beginning was pretty good, but like everyone said, they rushed into the end too fast. It's like the project ran out of money so they just chopped off the end right as it was building to something epic.

I just think the movie did a terrible job of conveying emotion, from the terrible CGI, to Will Smith's steady wit (not saying I don't like Smith, I do, he's just the wrong man for this movie), it doesn't add up to a desperate post-apocalyptic feel that movies like 28 days had.

Plus, as other people on here have already pointed out, it was paced completely wrong, and cut off in what should have been the middle of the movie.

I'm not saying it was a horrible movie, just that I went expecting a good apocalyptic drama/thriller, and got more of summer popcorn movie. I guess I was just severely disappointed.

I loved this movie. I love suspense, and this film gave me exactly what I wanted.

******POSSIBLE SPOILER******

Would have been better if there were more scenes like the one in the bank, and had alot more mass attacks by the Darkseekers like in the end, except having more than one getting into the house to wreak havoc.

*****END SPOILER*****
