My new Apple G4 tower, it has a 450 MHz PowerPC G4 processor, 1 Gig of
ram, and a 120 Gig HD added by me. Tomorrow when my dad goes back
into work, he is going to ask in his tech department about more ram and the
HD's that were supposed to come with the two towers we obtained. If I do
get another HD it will go to Linux, I will post pics of it tomorrow when I get
the chance.

Oh don't worry, after this christmas I should have enough stashed away to
purchase a dual core to drop in it, and honestly I can't complain it is a step
up from what I had and it only cost 85 bucks. So laugh all you want but I will
mach you computer for less than 400.

That'll be an expensive buy! I think a dual core processor for that specific type of computer costs roughly around $500. Otherwise, good luck with that.

Even so I will still have a dual core machine for a little over 500, which is
definitely cheaper than buying a whole new machine. Also, like I said
before this machine is definitely a step up from what I had before, it has a
better processor, a bigger HD, and more ram.

That comes out to be a pretty terrible deal. For $250 more than your going to end up paying, I have a computer with 2 more gigs of ram, about 250 more gigs of hard memory, and a dual core.

The reason I am running apple, is because I want to get into graphic design
and such and it is a known fact that apple computers are better for such
things. My new tower is good as for people saying it's not a good deal it
really is. If I were to go buy a new dual core tower I would have to pay
$2000+ for it. But if I go the way I plan I can get ram for my new machine
for a much lower price, I have already bumped my HD space from 120 to
190 Gigs without spending a penny. So now all I need is maybe another Gig
of ram so that would be another $40 and a dual core processor so that is
about another $350-$400. so lets tally the prices shall we...
New Apple:2000+
My Apple:85+400+40=$525 bucks, that is 1/4th the price.

Carl, Macs aren't meant for gaming, they're focus is on general processing, however with bootcamp they can run any windows game, admittedly with drawbacks. The video cards in a Mac are much more generalized, like a standard processor, which lets them play games ok and render video ok.
In a PC, your video card is focused only on FPUs, which gives you great FPS and high quality graphics. Were you to try and run a program off your GPU, it would run terribly slow because its not optimized for more general processing. If you were to try and render massive projects on your Video card, it would struggle. A more generalized processor is needed here, such as a mac video card.
On the whole, today the only difference between Macs and PCs are the OS and the level of customization available. I could run any program a Mac could run (assuming its ported to PCs) as well if not better then an apple could because we are using the same hardware. The difference is my hardware is running faster because I've overclocked it, an advantage in PCs. Macs advantage is the software and OS is coded with the hardware utilized in mind. They can design a much more specific operating system which runs far more efficiently because they don't have to consider all the components which might be used, similar to why Xboxs and Playstations run games very nicely always.

As whale said, theres more to computers than games, and as far as system requirements, what are you huffing? My laptop plays all steam games at full settings no problem. (Yes, I know the source engine isn't that demanding) but I haven't had trouble playing anything on it yet.

Seriously though. How in the hell are you going to put an Intel Dual Core in an old PowerPC socket?

AMD 4000+ X2 chip
Biostar motherboard
4Gb of ram (Of which some is wasted because bloody XP can only detect 3.2Gb)

500watt power supply

I will ask once more, what socket does the mobo have, what FSB is it, and will it even support 65nm architecture?

Sorry I have been quite busy, all I know is they make a dual core specifically
for the g4 tower I have a whole tutorial on how to install it and everything
you would want one my tower at home. I am at my aunts, and I will look for
everything I need to tell you from here by calling a friend who has an
identical tower who is also going to be doing this. If I don't have everything
up within a few minutes it will be up later tonight when I get back to my
beloved tower. Problem is telling you about the socket on my mother board
because I do not have the computer in front of me as for front side bus I
assume we are talking speed?
