Yeah. I must have pissed off Santa this year because I have to work on Christmas. I wouldn't care so much if it was a 7-3 shift. But nOoOoO. I have to work 3-11 thus destroying the best part of Christmas, the dinner with family. On the bright side I will be getting paid Time and a half.

When I worked at the local ski slope, they told us, being seasonal employees, that we had to work either Christmas day or New Years day. When I tried to sign up for New Years, they told us that they had all the people they needed for then and that I got to work Christmas day. I essentially told them 'no' and didn't go in. I was trying to get fired from that job anyway, it sucked.

It was the same place that usually closed at 3:30, but they were having a good, busy day so they were going to stay open later, keeping us employees there, I said "cool, overtime!" and my boss got a kick out of that saying, "No, only the full time workers get overtime, you get a regular day's pay" They weren't even going to pay the seasonal employees for the extra hour.

I went home.

The magic of working for a school now dictates that I am not working for any legal holidays at all. heh heh heh

the hospital job i just got, the lady literally said, "since you're a part time, zero assigned employee, you don't have to work any holidays."

it's pretty sweet.  Plus, since it's zero assigned hours, I get to work as much or as little as I want.  All they want is 8 hours per paycheck, and 2 weekends a month.

If it's close to the edge just call somebody else to tow them outside of your circle of responsibility.

No Christmas work for me. All of my previous jobs I had to work holidays, but not now.

Closed Christmas Day here. Christmas Eve, however, I am working the entire kitchen myself so that all my employees can have the day off. I'm just running a limited menu, so it's no biggie.
