I hope you know that your really long barrel doesn't give you a more aacurate shot. I do like ops gear"s sniper shroud, but itr could lok so much better if it was custom painted, because then all of the add ons are the same color.

right...

If I had a nickel for every time someone said that.

Face it,

A. There are no snipers in paintball, physics prevent it from being possible.

and

B. You got all butthurt about it, threw a hissyfit and got guested.

:D Thanks man! Glad to see everyone is getting along around here again. Also glad to see you got the images working. You set up a photobucket account? I love that site.  My buddy Mike did most of the painting, i sorta just suggested the idea, held the leaves and took pictures...LOL!
It really was fun though. Go crazy with it. Worst case scenario, you mess up and paint it flat black or sand it down and start over. No biggie! Hope it goes well! Keep us posted.

Spell check, use it. It will get you a lot more respect around here. Being that you and your multiple personality disorder are at about -50 points each, proper spelling and grammar will bring you up to maybe about -47 points.

So, I noticed you all have snipers, did you buy them to have and excuse to
stay in the back of the field? Is it because you are scared of being shot? Or is
it because you guys like to make QUOTE "SEXY TIME" with each other in the
back of the field?

Hope to see the finished product. Also would recommend a 'riser' of some sort under the red-dot. It will be very challenging to get square behind it is as is with a face-mask on. It can be done, but you will likely end up having to rotate the marker...like you do when you shoot with a gas mask on...hahaha not that I would know! NOT enjoyable, promise!

By the way, when you go to paint it...
I forgot to mention this before, but PRACTICE on cardboard or something FIRST!!! You will thank me later! It takes a few tries to get the hang of which colors to use first, which leaves don't look as cool as you thought, how far away to hold the can, etc., etc. GOOD LUCK!!

okay, okay, one last thing, then i am done, PROMISE!

PLEASE, oh PLEASE edit the title of this thread and all further references to reflect the weapon being simulated, not a job title, i.e "98 Custom M82A1". It will cause a lot less friction in this forum, as you can see i am sure. I would avoid the "s" word in this forum at all costs, regardless of personal beliefs. Just use the search button and you can find year old posts that no one even knows what they were about originally because they turned into 'tactics debates' so to speak.

Happy modding, take care!

unless ur playing a 30 a side massive player game on a huge field its hard to
be a sniper! if you're playing a good field in a normal paintball site good
players will be all over a sniper hanging back way before they can cause any
damage.
i've made sure i have a good CQB gun (e-grip'd A5 w/ red dot) and
something to outgun any tippy players with flatlines, that being my WS66 :)

i really wanna camo my guns too but id get really picky about accessories
that i throw between both of my guns to match the pattern...

It would seem that you're spelling impaired as well.  It's odd how all three of you seem to use nearly identically incorrect spelling/grammar.

nope, its not me....there are no sniperss in paintball, there are however, sharpshooters, just because you hvae a kit for a barret doesnt automatically make you a sniper, even if it is from only 85-100ft. sorry man but we just had a 7 page debate over me thinking that there were snipers in paintball...please lets not get this started again

Well... even that is debatable.

And it was also concluded that you would have to have extreme experience and practice to be one.

My point exactly carl. Not just anyone can go and say "i am going to be DM today.."

It would be like me saying "I am going to be a surgeon today".

So none of these people are either if I had to guess.

But the difference is they have the potential to be so with the limitations of the existing paintball technology.  As someone (I believe it was you) pointed out in the other thread, designated marksman shouldn't be someone's primary task on the field.  However, it can be a useful task on the field as an alternate skill.  Such skills have to be gained somehow and starting out as a noob-marksman and working your way up is probably the best way.  So I won't pick on the designated marksman on the forum too much.

Edited Additional Thoughts (Such as they are):

The designated marksman position is even one place in paintball where there might actually be a use for scopes.  Not for aiming so much as for spotting and target identification.

I just can't bring myself to use the abbreviation "DM" for designated marksman.  Just considering it brings up related thoughts about 5th level sniper-mages and stuff like that.  (It's all because of that darn thread a while back where someone got really carried away on the subject of "role playing" during scenario games.)

Looks like you are making progress! I would take a look at the typical shades/colors you expect to play in, and then use those for a basis, using a very light green and black to add 'shadows' and 'highlights'.  Also would recommend painting the  entire gun (minus the mag, do the mag-well, but  just remove the mag for the painting). Just my two cents. Looking good. Most importantly, have fun.

I like the camo on the marker although I'm not certain of its usefulness.  However, that would be dependent upon the terrain you play in.  (Which is?)  The non-camo parts detract seriously from the marker though.

Agreed. And overall the fact that there are performance enhancing parts on the marker completely detracts from any cool factor the camouflage paint gives it. A brick is a brick.

4/10 The camo gives it two points. Otherwise I would rate it 2/10 because of the sheer lack of usefulness.

If your 98 custom is a newer model the e trigger will work. I cannot remember what the serial number you have to be above is. Just search on here for e trigger and you'll find info.

You will probably be quite happy with the r/t once you get used to it.  Just read all the installation/usage instructions first and make sure you save any leftover parts.

Looks OK, but I agree with Snake: no performance parts = not a great rating in my books. Don't get the cyclone if you don't need it. Upgrade things you want to change, not because you want to upgrade for its own sake. A cyclone is a great upgrade, but only if you actually want/need a faster hopper. I plan on getting one myself, but it all depends on your style of play.

Not a very complementry person are we? I agree that if he took everything off except the marker recievers and the barrel it would still be the exact same marker in essence.  I don't have a problem with people spending money on cosmetic upgrades.  I'm sure hes not going onto the paintball field thinking hes an "ub3r 1337 5n1p3r", so where's the problem at?  I have a problem with someone who rarely has anything positive to say about somone's marker.  He's sharing pictures of his marker with us in hopes of getting some complements and questions about it, not sarcastic, mocking comments that rate his marker just because it is modeled after a sniper.  So what? Get over it.

I think the marker looks awesome mate.  I do agree with the others that suggested you either do the whole marker in a camo scheme or none of it, as that's some heavy contrast. IMO I say do everything, as it's a nice scheme and colour.  Well done.

And Ilford is right, don't get upgrades just so you can say you have them.  If something is bothering you performance wise, then by all means grab an upgrade for it.  However, they are saying "no performance upgrades = bad rating", but if you're happy with the way it shoots and the way it looks/feels, then that's really all that matters.

Welcome to the internet. He posted his marker in a public domain, and as it is a public domain we are all entitled to our own opinions. I don't like the marker, so I posted my opinion that I do not like it. Spending money on cosmetic upgrades is stupid to me, all it does is make your marker a brick. That is my opinion. You are entitled to your opinion on the matter, as am I. It is a free country, deal with it.

I like the cosmetics.  I will be buying some for mine (more M4 look I decided) and for milsim and scenario games it makes it more fun.  Keep up the good work.

Ew. The Opsgear M82 shroud is one of the most inhumanely ugly things ever to mar the M98C. Sorry, but that's a very ugly mod. I'm all for putting a stock on the marker, but the shroud adds nothing in either performance or looks.

Well I dont really like the opsgear shroud, but I may be buying one. I want to get a q loader and a ape rampage e grip, but I cannot find any ways to mount the q loader where I want it on my 98 custom so I may just buy the sniper shroud so I can screw the q loader on that and I think the shroud wont look to bad if I paint it.

The Q-Loader website has various marker specific "custom" mounts available.  The 98 one isn't bad.  Although I did modify it so I could mount the Q on an Autococker.

Ya I was looking around on the web a litte more today and If i can get the custom mount I may be able to put it where I want it without the shroud.

Darn, I came back to this thread because I just finished up a trouble-shooting checklist for the r/t.  Oh well, I'll save it for when I feel like adding another section to my "first gun" post.

(I am going to add a trouble-shooting section eventually.  School is just keeping me kind of busy.)

Not like that was a joke or anything...

But I was serious about the majority of it being running.

Anyone can shot fast, knowing when to run and when not to is one of the defining qualities of a good player.

Good players can play wherever they want.  They don't have to limit themselves to just woods or speed.
