Correct me if I'm wrong, but: an air thru stock has the ability to accept a remote line so I don't have to attach the remote to the ASA but instead to the end of the stock which is better because it puts the remote directly under my shoulder.
Now I'm pretty sure thats what they're called but again if I'm incorrect please tell me. I was just wondering what air thru stocks are around that are relatively inexpensive (nothing over $70), well made, and easily useable.
Now if I get the stock then I'll need a remote, so if someone could inform me about remotes because I know very little that would be much appreciated.
Thanks for your help!

It will be very hard to find a stock that is air thru for that price. As far as remote lines go you def. wanna spend the cash to get the slide check. It allows you to take the remote off of the gun without turning off the tank. The quick disconnect is the part that connects the remote line to the stock. I have never seen a remote line without one. The remote itself will be 35ish with the slide check. Here is a link for the remote line. As far as the stock goes we also need to know the gun its going on. Also in the description it says the remote can withstand up to 3000psi. That is NOT tank psi but the actual output PSI. So you will be fine since no guns need 3000psi to work. The coiled remotes are actually more comfortable also since you can extend it further and it coils back up out of the way.

Old-skool gas-thru stocks are not expensive.
Used ones can be had for $10-15. New for $25.
Adjustable in length. Screws directly into your ASA.
Doesn't have quite the milsim appearance of a stock that attaches to the receiver... but those are few and far between as far as 'gas-thru' goes... and as stated above, not within your price range.

I'd check out pbnation.com. I'm sure there are a few floating around for that price.

You could always make you own gas-thru out of a normal stock. This wouldn't be quite gas-thru, but probably more "gas-along". I figure you could get essentially any stock (a G36-ish one is what I'm imagining), and just drill a hole in the bottom near the end to mound a QD to. Then just ziptie some macroline along the bottom of the stock and run it to the valve/tombstone. You could probably make a true gas-thru in a more involved process, but the above idea would work just as well as an actual gas-thru as far as I can imagine, and would cost less (stock+remote+macroline and fittings).

Duuh, sorry I forget to mention the gun its for. Tippmann 98 custom. And if my price range is outta proportion then if you could just name a few good air thru stocks (any price) it would be much appreciated.
And thanks for the link (just what I was lookin for) But what harness do you suggest I get for the tank?

well it depends on how many tubes you want and whether or not you want a vest instead. Let me know that and I will help you find a good priced setup. As for the air thru stock here are a few links.

My suggestion would run you about 50 bucks for the stock tops. Heres all you'd need (plus the remote of course, this list is just for the stock): http://www.countysports.com/shop/product.php?productid=3259&cat=269&page=2 - 1/8" NPT Female-Female Adapter $6 http://www.countysports.com/shop/product.php?productid=1741&cat=269&page=1 - 90 Degree Macroline Fitting $5 http://www.countysports.com/shop/product.php?productid=1742&cat=269&page=1 - Straight Macroline Fitting $5 http://www.countysports.com/shop/product.php?productid=1745&cat=269&page=1 - Macroline (This example is 9", you will need a longer length than this. Look around, you can find the stuff in larger lengths.) ~$2 http://www.opsgear.com/Tippmann-A5-Fixed-Stock-G36-p/tts-stock-fixed-g36-a5.htm - A Stock , this example is an OpsGear G36 stock. A friend has one, and likes it. I'd normally avoid OpsGear/SpecOps, but it's a good product. $35
Total: $53
I can draw up a plan if you want, but I think it's pretty straightforward.

What do you mean by tubes? pods? cause if thats what your talking about I want 3-5. And do you think a vest would be more practical? I'm open to your opinions. Whatever you think would be better in the long run. Oh and the only place I can find a vest is at specops.com and I've heard dubious things about them.

I prefer the vest personally. And yes I did mean pods. Most vests can carry at least 4. Rap4 is another company that makes vests and I liek them.
http://rap4.com/paintball/os/tactical-commando-vest-p-2566.html - http://rap4.com/paintball/os/tactical-commando-vest-p-2566.h tml
That is the one I have and I prefer it over other models since it puts the pods on the back and even if you dont have a pistol you can get a utility pouch or another pouch to hold 2 more pods. There are also some cheaper ones there and the pods are on the front but they are still good vests. it comes down to your prefference. Also that particular tank holder holds up to a 68 or 72 ci tank or a 20oz CO2 tank. You can get a bigger one if need be(I did) and it holds it on quite well.
There are also ones like this that dont zip in the front. It will still get the job done though.

http://www.paintball-discounters.com/get_item_250230.htm - http://www.paintball-discounters.com/get_item_250230.htm
And there is spec ops. They make a good vest and I used one for a while but switched because I got a size too big and it was uncomfortable because of it. I also switched to the Rap4 because of sponsorship.

Not sure I lilke these personally because it raises the site to eye level and your mask doesnt hit it. You just need the nipple to add to it and boom you have a good stock. Also its 25 you save 15.

If I buy the rap4 vest is the vest part the only thing I get, (Cause I don't need the leg holster) And can I flip the tank around so the remote goes under my left shoulder cause I'm left handed.
The rap4 looks nice, but on spec ops their vests are about the same price and I kinda like them better. But I'm not sure which vest I want if you could recommend one that would be great.
For the vest- I don't go thru tons of paint, I currently use 3 pods a game (I'd like about 5 but that's not a neccesity); I don't need a hydration bladder; I have a 20oz co2 tank; I'd like a pocket or 2 to hold squeegees and stuff. And I think thats all I want (right now). Thanks

I'm confused; why would you not like this stock because it essentially raises the sight and prevents mask/stock interference?

Also the vest is your prefference. The rap4 doesnt come with a leg holster. the pic shows everything you can get eventually. it actually includes
1 x Tactical Paintball Vest ( http://rap4.com/paintball/os/paintball-vest-woodland-camo-p-1396.html - more info ) 1 x Shotgun Shell Pouch (Front) ( http://rap4.com/paintball/os/shotgun-shell-pouch-p-2190.html - more info ) 1 x Name Tag Pouch (Front) ( http://rap4.com/paintball/os/name-tage-pouch-p-2236.html - more info ) 1 x Radio Pouch (Front) ( http://rap4.com/paintball/os/radio-pouch-p-2143.html - more info ) 1 x Shoulder Pad (Front) ( http://rap4.com/paintball/os/shoulder-pad-p-2197.html - more info ) 1 x Cross Holster (Front) ( http://rap4.com/paintball/os/cross-draw-pistol-holster-right-hand-p-1674.html - more info ) 1 x Utility Pouch (Front) ( http://rap4.com/paintball/os/utility-pouch-tactical-vest-p-1781.html - more info ) 1 x CO2 Tank Pouch (Back) ( http://rap4.com/paintball/os/tactical-vest-tank-pouch-p-2173.html - more info ) 1 x Paintball 4 x Pod Pouch (Back) ( http://rap4.com/paintball/os/4-x-pod-pouch-p-2057.html - more info )
The tank pouch can be flipped I am pretty sure but I will double check on it for you.

I was looking at special ops and I found that you can make your own vest. I think I'll do that, but I'm not sure what I need on it, I was thinking: On the BACK 4 pods and a horizontal tank pouch, On the FRONT 2 pods in lower right, 6x6 utility pouch lower left, and maybe another pouch upper left.
Also it says I can't get it in mesh if I want woodland so do you think the mesh in olive drab is all that important to keep me cool or should I just get the heavyier fabric in woodland?

I wouldnt recomend the build it yourself as much because the prices are ridiculous imo. the recon 6 vest is nice (its the one i used to have) and if I had gotten the right size and color pattern in the first place I would still have it. you have to add the tank puch on it but it is still less than the builder. if you have the $$ though you might as well get what you want. as for the mesh or fabric i say go for the olive mesh and then just make the pockets the pattern you want. thats what i prefer just beacuse of ventilation. As for the pods on the front if you dont use more than 4 in a game you might as well just get the back ones. especially if you like to belly crawl at all b/c the front pods make that very uncomfortable. If you plan on getting into the scenario games too you may want to ge a radio pouch since it is one of the free ones you can get in the builder.

Hey guys sorry it's been awhile since I posted back but, I looked at the recon 6 and it looks like it'll suit my needs well. But what air pouch do I need to attach my tank to the vest? I've looked around the site, but I'm not sure which one works. And do the pods hang down past the bottom of the vest? Cause if they do is it anoyying at all to have them banging agaisn't your arse when you run?

They do hang there but they dont bang against you. They sit on your lower back quite snuggly. Just make sure you get the right size. I had the vertical pouch on mine and it held it on well. I actually made mine but it was a pain. The vertical tank does work better on the recon 6 though. the horizontal tank is only held on by velcro. the vert is held on by velcro too but it secures it further by looping i am pretty sure.

I think I'll go for the recon 6, but how is the sizing? Should I go a size bigger than what I am? I'm pretty thin, about 5' 10", and I usually wear a medium size shirt/jacket. Oh, and also since I'm getting a camo blouse what size should I get on the camo so that it fits nicely under the vest?
