http://www.livescience.com/health/080205-virus-shattering.html - A potential weapon against viral infections is in experimentation.

Viruses are not, strictly speaking, alive, and destroying them has been very problematic. A new area of research has opened up to use a 'mechanical' method to destroy a viral organism... Shake the bejesus out of them. Vibrate them, with laser energy thus far and other methods posited, so that the resonance tears them apart enough that they cannot function.

"The capsid of a virus is something like the shell of a turtle," said physicist Otto Sankey of Arizona State University. "If the shell can be compromised [by mechanical vibrations], the virus can be inactivated."

That's a hell of an idea.

If the technology and science pan out as computing power increases (and it would have to increase a lot) they could potentially develop an ultrasound that would eradicate HIV. Just a possibility.

Yup, he actually said that.

He certainly seems pleased with his results, and that his computer porn wasn't lost.

What makes you think that??

what happens if your frequency is the same as the virus'?

They have to tune it to destroy specific segments of the virus' composition, and the cells of the human body respond to a much lower frequency range, so says the article. I can't imagine there isn't some overlap, but still, the results are probably worth some side effects.

heh... yeah...viruses are trick... they're basically a cell membrane filled with segments of RNA, and various receptors.

actually, they're thought to be the reason why our strands of DNA are so long, and that most of it isn't coded for anything in particular.  all the viruses that implanted themselves into our dna just sort of stayed with us, and our cells were able to overcome/ignore these coded regions.
