I got a snow day today, yay.  But it's because everything is a sheet of ice.....boo. We're supposed to get some snow tonight, so if we don't have school tomorrow that will be 4 snow days this year. We're allowed 5 then we have to start making them up . I don't want to have to make up snow days later this year....

Anyone else off today ?

unfortunately, no. we're working today, it was just rain this morning. We're hoping for it to ice over tomorrow morning though so we get a day off. God knows I could use one.

I've been off this entire week... due to illness. I much rather be in school that here at home feeling the way I am and having to make up all the missed work.

Being sick sucks. I'd rather do anything than be sick. But I've some how been extremely lucky with sickness, haven't thrown up since like. 4th grade I think. I hope to keep it that way.

Florida sucks, you don't get the awesome winters.

just took this, as you can see the freezing rain just turned to snow. So now we are going to get a bunch of snow on top of all the ice....

From pics of your house, I would assume you live in an isolated area? I always loved the feeling you get when it's snowing in an isolated place. Everything is so quiet and calm. Probably one of the most relaxing experiences I've ever had.

Snow day here, just because we are suppose to be getting 10 to 14 inches by midnight they called school with out snow on the ground. Around here that never happens.

Where I grew up as a kid, there was only one other house you could see, and it was empty during the winter. It was so absolutely calm and quiet, you're right, its really one of the most pleasant feelings I can remember growing up.

Then I got old enough to shovel, and I've hated winter ever since.

It's extremely isolated. Even right now you cant see any other houses. Heres a shot from the summer, this is just about my whole front yard. And it's nice and quiet. But it's not bad having the peace and quiet when its warm out

PS: If you wonder why the grass looks like that, a lot dies in the winter due to crappy sandy soil so we we're regrowing some of it.

I'd gladly take snow or ice over the tornadic weather we had last night.

Just about every one around me got a snow day today except for me. We got like 6 or more inches and they still made us go to school today. I was kind of glad my truck wasn't working because I know I wouldn't have made it to school.

Never in my life have I had 2 days in a row off for snow. They always get the ice/snow treated before the 2nd day.

Well the problem is it was an ice sheet so it had been raining, washed away most of the salt. Froze and now on top of that we get snow. I'm pretty sure we will be in school on Friday.

That's why you buy what's known as a tractor. Plowing > Shovelling. I think I may go build a snowboard jump in my front yard with my dad's Kubota(sp?).

When I went to work today at 2, it was just starting to really snow, probably had about 2-3 inches... By the time I got out at 10, it had dumped another 10-11" on us.
Some of you Southerners would have crapped your pants if you saw my drive home.

Plow is the only way to do it at my house. You physically couldn't shovel all there is to be shoveled at my house.

I usually plow the driveway, but my dad likes to make paths to everything in our yard (shed, trailer, where I park my car, etc.) using the snowblower. It makes our yard look kinda schweet.

.357, do you board or ski at all?
I'm definately going to try and go to Pine Knob tomorrow. A foot of fresh powder is badass.

Nope, I know lots who do though. Almost got into snow boarding but just never did it enough. Closest place around me is Mt.Brighton.

Did you hear about that kid that got run over by a groomer there recently? I never heard any details, but it was last week I think.

Yea, it took them a couple hours to get him out of it. I think he was from Canada or something on a trip.
