1992-2011

Actually, it wasn't even supposed to make it to this (the fourth) generation. As it is, there will be two versions rolling off assembly lines until the 2011 mark when Chrysler plans to axe the semi-supercar in preference for a more "attainable" high-end along the pricing lines of the Corvette. All in all, Chrysler is trimming their line (all lines) by at least half and focusing on core consumer needs in it's self-proclaimed "genesis" phase of re-alignment.

AWW BOOO!

2000 Viper = my favorite year. Just before the new style came out. I love those cars. But my favorite car ever was a Hennessey Venom 650, which was a turbo-Viper. I LOVE Vipers!

The Viper is beautiful-but also overpriced, overpowered, and underequipped. Of course, if you want complete overkill, then the Viper's the way to go. Otherwise, the Z06 'Vette gives you more in pretty much every area.

Except the poon, which is what having a Dodge Viper is really all about.

5 years (or less) after the last one rolls off the assembly line, they'll bring it back due to popular demand, add $100k to the price and laugh all the way to the bank.

overall mopars suck... however the new challenger makes me cream...(and the old challengers/cudas) imo the best looking cars in American history came out between 67 and 72

they need something that can compete with the mustang gt AND v6... however last i checked their challenger was only going to be offered with a v8 for 35kish

gm is doing the same thing with the new camaro.

That was the idea in the beginning but with the market these days you knew they were going to give in to putting a 6cyl in there. The first year of the challenger is only suppose to be auto too. As for the camaro, their contemplating making a hybrid version.

Don't forget its limited to 111MPH unless your at a pre approved track, and after a track day you have to pay for a 1000 dollar safety check or else your warranty is void. And if you want after market wheels you will have to put up with seeing an error code on your dash.

Because a car should really be going 111 MPH on a public street.

Considering public safety should be frowned upon of course, especially when it gets in the way of your wicked kool street racing dude!

I <3 my Bui...

...

Well, you know. But I <3 it. I've given up on performance dreams (at least on my Skylark), and wouldn't mind making it the ultimate driver. It's already a big, heavy car with a soft suspension, so it pretty much glides. I wouldn't mind redoing the upholstry, and maybe getting some nice wood trim on the inside. Maybe an even better suspension later down the road, and a smoother transmission. Preferably automatic. I want to sit in that car, and feel like I'm floating on a cloud.

Need me to post a picture? And no, I don't off road it. I need it to haul trailers and quads. That, and the 4x4 is nice in the snow in CT/NY. Why does it even matter to you what I use a car for? How would my post even suggest that I am a "ricer kid"? You are such a moron it's not even funny.

No. A luxury car. It IS a Buick after all.

Pimpmobile = 22" Dubs, thumpin' system, dumb paint job and more chrome than a, well, whatever has a lot of chrome.

I wouldn't dare defile my car in such a way. I wouldn't mind a nice, balanced system though. Maybe Bose.

I stand firm in my conviction that your car would look incredible dropped a few inches and with some big, but not massive, classy yet showy rims.

Just pimp enough to be eye catching without being gaudy is a very hard look to achieve, but it looks great when you get there.

Well, in all honesty, when my big butt is in the front seat, what with the soft suspension and all, it drops quite noticably. I will agree that I think it looks great, but I wouldn't actually low-ride it. And I love my Cragar S/S's. Just the right size and chrome content.

(Sorry, the pic was obligatory...)

Whale, you bring up a valid consideration. I'll have to do a sketch or two. If I didn't live in Texas, black would be a great color for her too, I think.

We're not going to be hacking the body or anything. We will probably keep the original drivetrain so we can restore it if we ever want to.

I could never stand the late 70's early 80's mustang bodies. They just aren't sexy to me.

Back on the original subject. Just saw where Chrysler is now contacting other companies (Japanese and Domestic) to see about using their underpinnings and just slapping a Chrysler body on it and tweaking the mechanics a bit to save on costs.

As far as I knew, and believe me I know alot, pretty much every engine block made since forever ago has a pressurized lubrication system. Also since forever ago, cars have come with a thermostat to control the cooling of the engine?

I mean, ya know...Oil pump in the pan creates flow, which in turn creates pressure due to the restriction.

Thermostat in the...thermostat housing, stays closed until temperature reaches predetermined level, and then opens.

Leave it to the Japanese to try to make stuff that has been around on cars since forever seem super technical....

Well, I still have a few months before I get my license, but I don't plan on it because it was 8.5 g's so I want to keep it nice. But I have quads and stuff for woods trails, and by me, there aren't any trails you could get a jeep through without scratching it to crap. It's all tight trails made for quads and dirt bikes for the most part, so unless you are trailblazing and running down trees with it, there aren't too many places I know of that would be good for a jeep without destroying it. I really want to take it on the beach next year though when I go up to cape cod with about 20 people, it's gonna be sick in the sand tearing it up, maybe take a few hunnies out at night lol.

• Dual overhead camshafts with variable intake-valve timing.

  • Standing 1/4-mile: 11.6 s at 190 km/h (118 mph)

Don't forget its limited to 111MPH unless your at a pre approved track, and after a track day you have to pay for a 1000 dollar safety check or else your warranty is void. And if you want after market wheels you will have to put up with seeing an error code on your dash.

Where did you hear those claims?

They are limited to 110mph in Japan, along with most cars (Including BMWs, Mercedes, and other German models)

The US version will be 155, like most high end german cars..

I stand firm in my conviction that your car would look incredible dropped a few inches and with some big, but not massive, classy yet showy rims.

The world knows I am not a fan of trevni's car, but one of my favorite features is actually the wheels.  Stylish, but perfectly consistent with the times (are they original?).  Big rims on an old car are anachronistic and just look out of place to me.  Dropping a couple of inches would be ok, I guess.

That, and the GT-R is ugly as heck.  I am sure it drives well, but I like my cars to be not ugly, at least if I am paying a bunch.  A car like that should be making a positive visual statement, not just look a recycled Maxima.

^ the jeep (that turned into the wrangler) was designed long before chrysler got its hands on it. its a great design but it needs a 350(chevy) dropped in it to make it worth a damn.

they can make cars that look great and some have performance stats but long term quality is null.

You remind Me of the type of kids who get new Mustang V6s that they think are faster than everything, until my SE-R shut them down.

BTW, the video you posted of a Supercharged Cobra beating a stock B15 thats  only pushing 140 at the crank is stupid.  That Mustang is modded and was originally over priced 2x what the b15 was.

I like it when some kid with a little 4-banger (or even most V6's) try and tell me their car is faster, then I blow them out of the water.
People just don't seem to understand that I have 4.6L V8, which is what a police cruiser uses. Not monstrous, but more than enough to beat the pants off most "ricer kids." And that's stock.

Nah, personally I think they shouldn't make sixxer stangs, they're pointless. You might as well just buy a more luxury based daily driver with the money rather than those failstang sixxer.

And the point of the video was that he did a flyby and got owned.

Man.. I dont think they coulve made the Viper look any better anyway..

but to know they will end the Viper line is very saddening for me, I love these cars. I will take a Viper over any other car eve. I really want a 97 GTS, though a New Coupe would be nice as well.

oh well, Im sure i will still be able to find one in the future.

**Turbos will always make more power than a Supercharger. Also multiple Turbos can be added to an engine, you can only have a single Supercharger. Supepchargers sound better yes, but arent near as good as Turbos.

And whats the point of that? How many times do you muscle fanatics get shut down by some of the bigger guys in the tuning world (Evo, STI, ect.).

Big engine =/= fast

I have read of Evos that are pushing nearly 1000HP on a 4 banger. Don't get Me wrong I love Mustangs (even the new V6, its cheap and fun to drive).

Not trying to start a debate or anything but I love seeing ricers get shut down, there is a difference between a ricer doing a flyby and a fast, well built tuner. I have nothing against true tuners, just the fools who try to imitate them or who act like they're hot stuff in their near stock car. Also kids like this.

Not how the goat is slowing down, I think he drives around video taping flybys and claiming he beat them in a race...

I like muscle more than tuner. Something about the sound, the looks, just the whole aura that a nice muscle car encompasses. Not saying that it is the fastest car or anything like that, and no, they don't handle like an awd rice burner, but I just like them better.

http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=ejDtDHltT9s - http://ca.youtube.com/watch?v=ejDtDHltT9s Theres your semi truck sound. A powerstroke is a V8 diesel and only has the slight diesel knock of a semi. A dodge cummins diesel is an I6 which 99% of diesel semis use as an engine type(the I6 not the cummins)

tical, You obviously have never been around cars with built V8's or really listened to a semi's exhaust.

I have an appreciation for raw, unadulterated power. Absolutely useless, obnoxious, and not really functional in all technical (the latest "in" apparently) tracks, but there's something about the rumble of an American V8 (it doesn't even have to be big block) that does it for me car wise. Tical, you should really go to a serious drag race one day. You can literally feel the power oozing from those motors as they fly by you.

Would I put a 570 in a new Caddy? No. Waste of a Caddy. Would I kill your mom for that motor? Probably.
