Okay, as you may be able to see, my last post was several years ago. That aside, I was thinking about upgrading from CO2 to air. My question is what to do about refilling during the day of playing. The closest place to fill an air tank is about 40 miles from where I play. (can't exactly tell the guys to wait 2 hours while I run and refill) Can anyone throw me some options. How many shots per fill? (two tanks may be do-able but what size?) What could I do to fill where I play??? Thanks ------------- WHEN IN DOUBT, EMPTY THE HOPPER! |

Thanks for the link. Just as I figured, it'd probably take two bigger tanks to last me a day. (and that would be questionable!) Even if I could find a non-paintball place, it'd still probably be 20+ miles. I live and play in a pretty remote area from any larger towns. Thanks for the reply. How would filling from a SCUBA type tank work? Any idea on cost (ballpark) for that type of a tank?? ------------- WHEN IN DOUBT, EMPTY THE HOPPER! |

You can fill from a SCUBA tank. Look on ebay for the tank, then all you would have to buy is the filling station.

I don't play at fields. I play at a friend's property. I knew to maximize my playing time, I'd have to get large capacity tanks to play with. I checked the infrastucture around the area and only one of the two paintball shops filled HPA. The one that did fill HPA didn't even have his pump at the shop. He'd just fill a bunch of large air cylinders and bring them to the shop to fill tanks. He could only fill to a max of 3000psi. And when he'd fill your tank, he'd charge you $6 no matter what size tank you had and you never got a full fill anyway. Screw that. The only other place in town that could fill HPA tanks was Diver's Shop. He could only fill to a max of 3700psi, and he charged $5 per fill. At least there, I'd get a full fill off their pump. So, I got myself two 114ci/3000psi cylinders for my markers and found a 3500psi steel SCUBA tank. If I paid in advance for 10 fills for the SCUBA tank, it only cost me $4 per fill. I could fill my cylinders for weeks off a single SCUBA tank fill. If this is the route you want to go, you're going to have to pony up some money for a similar setup as mine. Otherwise, I'd just stick with C02 and upgrade your marker to make more efficient use of that power source. StormyKnight: Thanks! Thats the kind of info that I'm looking for. I still have several questions if I could PM you. Mainly things like what size of SCUBA tank to look for (when was it tested last), anything (or types to avoid), what type (brand or size) should I look for for my marker? You can PM me or post it on here if you think others my benefit from the answers as well! Thanks again!
Also the reason I want to switch to air if for better consistancy than I get with CO2. I noticed when I played last week (and in cold weather in general) my velocity would drop off as I got into heavy fire-fights. If you dont decide to go with HPA, a palmers stabilizer is your best bet. Also, some welding shops, firehouses, and mechanics places(very few would though, as they only use the big compressors for car lifts) fill tanks, and firehouses may do it for free if you buy the fill station and are nice. -------------
