I was in sudden need of a small drywall project last night, and realized that I do not own a drywall saw.  Grr.

Fear not - I dug into my ridiculously large collection of useless and silly knives, and found just the thing.  Here it is (after drywall cutting):

And now it is back in the box, probably never to be used again.

That drywall didn't stand a chance

Hmm, were you cutting 5/8th thick fire grade drywall?  IT seems to be a bit too much knife for drywall.

That drywall didn't want none.

Although, I find keyhole saws to work better than anything else out there (except maybe a fresh-out-of-the-box razor)... but judging by the gypsum marks on that knife...

I whould have painted my face blue and used my KuKri and sword to hack the drywall to bits.

The drywall can take our women and our lives, but it can never take ou FREEDOM!

In case I wasn't clear - I used the serrated back edge to cut.  Cutting holes in drywall with smooth blades just annoys me (and kukris are too fat up front for easy entry).  It did the job quite well, although certainly not the smoothest hole I have made.  But the drywall sure backed down when I whipped out the badass blade.

(And now I have a rather ghetto-esque hole in my basement ceiling)

Yeah. There's an art to cutting drywall holes with smooth blades. It's all about your angle and pressure.

Personally, I favor keyhole saws. put the blade where you want to start, and bam, hit the back of the handle and start the massacre.

My Dad used to do drywall for a living, and still does alot of it because he feels the need to improve every house he lives in. And he always uses a razor. I've tried to reach his level of mastery but alas, the pupil has failed to surpass his teacher.

Frost Cutlery is t3h blows.

My carry knife (completely legal):

Handmade, manually operated (no springs) Italian stiletto, with a blade just under legal carry length here in Tejas. :)

Useless as sin, but it's truly bad-a.

Thanks.  Now I feel like an idiot.  I own such a router, and it even has a specific drywall attachment.  But no, I had to go running to my Box o' Bowie.

Oh well.  Maybe next time I will remember.

A good improvisation using the Bowie and it got the job done. Did you get to let out a little aggression while you carved the sheetrock up with Your Bowie?

Oh, it was quite pleasant, thank you.  I hate Best Buy and Dell a little less now.

Just out of idle curiosity, Susan, but how many large knives do you own?

MMM, I like your taste. Kershaw makes very good knives, but when It comes right down to it, I have to say I prefer Gerber.

This is my every day pocket knife;

Not sure.  But I did place a couple of orders to the Shoppping Network for their "Buy 50 knives, get 50 free" Bowie specials a ways back.   :)  Most of my stuff is pretty low quality (hence the box), but I do have a couple of nice pieces.  They aren't all big, though.

I generally enjoy things I can hold in my hand and waive around.  Knives, swords, sticks, batons, whatever.  I knew I was officially psycho when my friends started giving me homemade numbchucks as presents...

Haven't we just had one of these topics?

This is one of my every day belt knives. It gets carried 80% of the time.

These two get carried about 15% of the time

This specialty knife gets carrried less than 5% of the time

These are my pocket folders, all carried various ammounts of time as general knives

I have another Spyderco Native, somewhere. It doesn't get carried all that much any more.

I've moved away from folders for SD to fixed blades, simply because with a custom made sheath, they are just as easy toconceal, and about 100 times faster to employ. Draw and it's done. No messing about with opening, or flicking or anything.

But it all honesty my main SD weapon is my Glock 26

I thought about getting a Columbia River like that with an exposed blade, there was just something I didn't trust about them. Is the blade recessed somehow on that, or is there a chance of getting jabbed?

THe cutting edge is absolutely flush with the body of the knife. No chance of cutting yourself.

I've had pleny of CRKT KISS's.
